I do not know why but this thread makes me want to listen to:
One of the best song of all time.
If Standford was as valuable as you say they are, then they wouldnāt be a partial share member of a conference on the other side of the country
Where would they go?
They were never going to the Big 12, that conference is way below them academically and brand wiseā¦theyād rather take a partial share in the ACC.
And againā¦after you ADD BACK the third tier rights from the ACC Networkā¦itās virtually equal what hey would have made in the Big 12 as a FULL MEMBER.
Many here do not understand that financial analysis involve ALL the sources of revenueā¦not only ONE line item Weāve been over this with SMUā¦they made more, IN THE ACC, than UH last year
They have the money. Their endowment is $36.5 BILLION!
It was a smart move to park yourself in a conference with the likes of Duke, Virginia, Boston College, Syracuse, SMU, Miami, etc. while the P2 Holds for the next decade, or so.
They are with schools that value academics and they have a plan for Football.
Bellichek will start his own League within next couple yrs probably. I put nothing past him. In a Good or Bad way.
Who said anything about the Big 12?
Which school drives most of the revenue for the ACC Network?
Hint: itās not Stanford
where did you have Stanford goingā¦they were jumping from a Conference that was blowing up.
ACC had the leverageā¦but being in the ACC is a great landing spot!
In order to prevent ESPN from reducing the media payouts to the conference, the ACC added 3 schools in order to fulfill the minimum number of members required by their media rights contract in the case that the teams suing end up leaving + UNC.
Thatās all that was.
SMU didnāt join the ACC for money. They have more money than 90% of all college universities with or without the ACC.
Stanford and Cal merely wanted to continue being P5 schools rather than join the MWC, and the Big Ten didnāt want them either. Big 12 was never a landing spot for either school. It was a mutually beneficial deal, and multiple schools including UNC & Miami were against adding Stanford & Cal
FSU and Clemson drive the revenue / profitability for the ACC Network. If even just those 2 schools leave, then the ACC Network is worthless. You also have to consider that both FSU and Clemson want to leave because even WITH the ACC Network they feel they are massively underpaid
yet, another full calendar year has passed and there is absolutely zero to indicate anyone is leaving the ACC other than hollow threats by FSU who has since shut their mouths
Unless the B1G wants to get to the 24 number to make more the travel issue more palatable, I do not see them adding a few more teams and the SEC is glacially slow at expansion.
The B1G has to decide if they like this bloated ācoast to coastā 18 member conference and there are already rumblings, from the west coast schools, about traveling.
The B1G is not expanding anytime soon.
The lawsuits are still ongoing, and realignment typically takes place in the off season. We are merely 2 weeks since the CFP championship
That being said, I donāt think the Big Ten or SEC wants FSU or Clemson, but it doesnāt erase the fact that both schools are still getting robbed for multi millions each. Can Yormark swing something with private equity? Who knows. Time will tell.
The SEC and Big Ten cannot outright say they are looking to expand because there are probably 3 teams even worth expanding with left. ā UNC, UVA, Notre Dame.
UNC and UVA are not football powerhouses, at least not historically, but thatās what makes them attractive because they donāt disrupt the status quo. They are also flagship schools, AAU, and they have great basketball programs. Both schools are also in states that the SEC doesnāt have in their portfolio, and they fit right within the SEC region.
Big Ten isnāt expanding with any school until they know for sure what ND wants to do.
As far as the 24 team conferences you speak of, I think it makes sense in the long term, but it wonāt happen before the next 2 media negotiation cycles
Stanfordās endowment isnāt for sports amigo.
Following that logic, Rice could be an NIL powerā¦āif they wanted toā be.
![]()
It doesnāt work that way, as we all know.
You keep saying Stanford could be a big NIL power āif they want to.ā
Thatās the part you donāt seem to understand.
Their fans are too small in number, and their money peopleā¦.DONāT WANT that.
They have a completely different vision for how their money will be used.
Given that Stanford doesnāt have a big fan base, much less one that cares about football or menās basketball, the only way that they become an NIL power is if someone steps forward to be their āsugar daddy.ā
The whole point that you consistently seem to miss isā¦.the people that control Stanfordās purse stringsā¦.DONāT WANT to get into the NIL rat race.
Or at least, they havenāt so far. I donāt see that changing, but weāll see.
Its grim for FBS to MACtion after W KY and MTSU.
Delaware & Miss State have played a CUSA game yet.
From above article
Delaware w healthy $1.78 billion.
UMass in MAC now does add to the appeal.
Last MAC expansion before UMass only Buffalo is left.
Delaware would be a good add to the MAC to replace Northern Illinois.
That guy is a bigger hack that Mhver, Yoda and those other phonies.
All āspeculativeā from him. Heās one of those Big 12 fan boys that constantly states āThe ACC is blowing upā
He wasnāt being a fan boy.
In fact, if you listen, he even said this is bad news for the Big 12 because it could bring us closer to a P2/G8 scenario with the Big 12 being left out.
Maybe take the time to listen.
How ābout it?
In the end Stanford is more like Rice than UNC.
You should know that.
you linked a āLocked on Big 12ā homer podcast.
Iāve listened to him beforeā¦he thinks all of the ACC is going to be begging to join the bIg 12ā¦lol
He throws anything, AND EVERYTHING, up against the wallā¦has been for 2 years (nothing has yet to happen)
The guy is a hack. The whole lot including Kurtz.
Their tactics to draw views is consistent theme of the big12 being dismantled, imploding, wronged terribly by the SEC, sprinkled in with the ACC implosion.
Pathetic really, but canāt hate on their game. Someoneās got to make a buck.
I listened to the whole thing.
As Ive been stating, all of the āACC IS GOING TO COLLAPSEā chatter is coming from hack Big 12 fan boys.
Iāve posted direct links to ACC fan forums, which you ignore, where they believe not only are they not breaking up but the Big 1`2 raiding the ACC is chatter from ādesperate Big 12 hacksā like this guy.
I agree 100%
You fell for it, Law.
Oh and on UNCās commitment to Football., they had Mack Brown who won a NC with Texas.
Theyāve been trying for a while now
āBIG 12 fan boysā is a good way to describe the āLocked on Big 12ā folks lol
I no longer buy that ACC implosion talkā¦SEC already got who they wanted and dont want or need those ACC schools. BIG people think league is too big already. The people that want you to read their stuff just dont like that nothing is going to happen, to ACC, Big 12 or anyone else. The ACC schools will figure out a tv deal because they have no choice and they arent going anywhereā¦ACC presidents need to take that humble pie and jam it down the throat of FSU and Clemson. Feel free to let Houston play FSU a few times and beat them because we OWN THEMā¦ACC fracturing is much ado about nothing. Talk by some for what feels like a year and a half at leastā¦and NOTHING happens.
