I know we should just focus on this season, but I have nothing else to do with no basketball on. In my opinion I think our roster in 2025 or 2026 has the potential to be one of the greats and hang a championship banner. Based on recruits and current players staying, this is the projected roster for the 2024-2025 college basketball season.
2024-2025 Houston Cougars
Guards:
Emmanuel Sharp (junior)
Terrance Arceneaux (junior)
Kordelius Jefferson (Sophomore)
Mercy Miller (Freshman)
Likely Dedan Thomas Jr (Freshman)
Forwards:
J’avier Francis (Senior)
Joseph Tugler (Sophomore)
Jacob McFarland (Sophomore)
Cedric Lath (Sophomore)
This team has it all. Good guard play, shooting, size, rebounding. I don’t know how if the players live up to what we think they can play like don’t win a championship. This team is young so I would say this year or the next year in 2026. We would lose J’avier, but have Sharp and Arceneaux as seniors (hopefully). The other guys would be upper class man and a year older as well. Also, I’m very excited to see Mercy Miller in a UH jersey. Come back to this April 7th, 2025.
(Also I guess Mylik Wilson would still have eligibility this year so he might still be here too and Ramon if he doesn’t leave)
If those players are still there but the. More likely than not TA will be gone by then. Unless something went wrong. Sharp would have been a top 50 player in his class and was highly recruited. It’s not a forgone conclusion that he’s will make it to year 3. Thomas hasn’t even committed. Way too far to predict 25’ and 26’ rosters
Man, im just enjoying the ride. Still, we must remain vigilant and hungry. Y’all remember what happened to Thror father to Thrain grandfather to Thorin — secure in his lineage, don’t you?
In my opinion, Sharp is making it to year 3 no doubt. Same with Arceneaux. I also put Dedan Thomas as likely because I believe he commits to us.
I have too much time on my hands and I was just constructing the roster of future teams. We know what next year will look like so 2025 is fun because there is some more speculation.
I don’t get this comment. There’s literally nothing wrong with taking three years in college. Quinton needed three years in college and he was a higher rated recruit that played a much bigger role his freshman year than TA. TA reminds me of Armoni. I don’t think he entered the program ready for the physicality of the college game. Give him two more years with our staff though and he’s going to be a menace.
I don’t think most peoples expectations for TA centered around how many years he’d play but rather that he’d become a really good player for us. Saying that if he plays here three years then he’s not the player we thought he was, is an unfair statement to make about an 18-19 year old kid. Not every player develops at the same rate. Kemba Walker was a 5 star top 20 recruit for UConn. He stayed til his junior year. That season he averaged 23.5 pts, 5.5 rbs, 4.5 asts, 2 stls, led UConn to a national championship, and then got drafted 9th overall. If TA did something like that would he still not be the player you thought he was? These guys have enough pressure on them without people getting in their ear and saying you need to be this or that by their freshman or sophomore year. TA just needs to be himself and work on his game. The rest will take care of itself.
I thought he was a 3+ player from the start. That shouldn’t be a bad thing. It’s hard to go from high school to college and quickly go to the best league in the world playing against guys in their mid 20s and 30s who have dedicated the past years to just playing basketball. Sometimes I wonder if you guys actually watch guys in high school
