Game 09: Houston at SMU - Nov 5th, 2022 (L 63-77)

SMU is as big of a question mark as we are. They’ve had some moral victories against good teams, but they also haven’t actually beaten anyone of note. Navy and Tulsa played them closer than expected, too. Our only common opponent was Navy, and our win there was much more convincing.

I have no clue what to expect on Saturday.

It’s a two-game streak. Note the caveat about “on a Saturday.”

My fear is that if we do not bring more discipline to our game and continue our cascade of unsportsmanlike and holding/offsides penalties we will not only lose but not be competitive.

I get it. We haven’t won at their place on a Saturday in over a decade.

That’s too long. :slightly_smiling_face:

I note that SMU is a mild favorite.

Tulsa just scored 34 on them and we are better than is Tulsa.

Cougars will beat the Ponies.

I expect a shoot out. However saw reports that the SMU QB has broken his collar bone. but don’t forget about the loss to a 3 string QB at Tulane. and who brought SMU the W against Tulsa…the third stringer…

Tanner Mordecai, an OU transfer when Rattler was heir apparent, will be back as starter this week. Rashee Rice is SMU’s version of Tank Dell.

At times, Mordecai has been a Turnover Machine…
I hope that our D plays well enough to make that happen…

This game always has me concerned because we play so bad up there.

Yes but I feel we should win! Glad I’ll be there to witness it.

I feel a curb stomping coming.

The Saturday caveat makes it seem worse but the Coogs have been pretty good against SMU since they renewed their annual match ups in 2005.

Of course, we’re 5-4 against them since Sumlin left. I just want to go out with a win.

I hate losing to SMU more than any other team we play on a regular basis. And I’m sick of losing them, too. Heck, I just don’t like SMU. I think we can score some points against them, but we have to play much better on defense or we’ll end up losing 37-33 or something.

With a win in Dallas, Holgy can pass coaching legends Herman and Applewhite and be the first since Tony Levine to have a winning record vs. SMU while coaching at UH.

Tanner is getting ready for UH

We’re gonna fly around.
