Game 10: Toledo at #15 Houston (W 78-49)

Pesik - if this stems from my poor attempt at humor paraphrasing a Bill Fitch quote last night, then take it for that. I’m exceedingly pleased with Cryers contribution to our team.

This just confirms my theory that written humor without context is often taken out of context.

Speaking of Sharp throwing his body around and contributing - wow. Hope he survives the season

outside of just liking sharp what is your basis for this … he has basically just done catch and shoot 3s this year, some of them had crazy range… but its still most catch and shoot…

as a mtter of fact you could debate that with him shooting at such a high percentage this year why isnt he trying to be the guy and be more agressive

also sampson said lj and jojo are the guys of this team, jojo for defense and lj for our offense

Just based off observation…

$harp drives often… the thing is that he opens up the floor because he can hit from 23…

Hot take but I like both guys. Lol

Them and TA make a killer three headed monster!

Let me ask you this… how does $harp lead the team in FTs if he just catches and shoots?

And it’s not even close…

he averages 3 drives a game, i wouldnt call that “often” for a 30min a game player…lj drivers more than him… sharp tends to go all the way to the buck, while lj does floaters… but lj drivers way more than sharp… lj can also hit from 3 …

sharp is averaging 9 shots per game, 6 of which are 3s, and 1 of which are midranges

i want him to drive more, i want him to be more agressive, but up till this point lj has been our guy

Midrange is driving and pulling up…

I bet Mylik’s stats on driving to the bucket look better…

But who do you want on the court…?

Is a floater really a midrange shot…

BTW Tug seems to just get better & better every game… seems like he has a new tool to use every game.

obviously sharp…, not saying sharpp is bad but up until this point, Lj has been our guy… sharp hasn’t taken over any game this year… he has mostly scored off catch and shoot… and even then it come in short spurts… he’ll knock down a couple 3s in a 2 minutes window and then do nothing for 18 minutes… example he had 16 vs butler, 9 of which came in a 2minute window late 2nd half, when the game was decided … most of lj 20 came when the game was being decided

if you read my preseason post, i noted Sharp has the potential to be a scary elite scorer, his release is crazy fast, he just need to improve off the dribble…but os far this year he has just been mainly catch and shoot… there are games this year teams were daring him to go iso and he’d just pass out of it… he has it in him to the guy… you see it whenever he is forced to shoot at the end of shot clocks … if we can have end of shot clock sharp, be full game sharp… watch out

We wouldn’t be in the top 25 without $harp…

One of the reasons Sharp has shot more FTs is because when he does drive and gets fouled, he never finishes. So he shoots 2 FTs instead of 1. #math (also, this is not serious)

Complete basketball sentence… lol

There is also not necessarily a direct correlation of free throw attempts to drives or shots at/near the basket. It could contribute to that, sure. But it doesn’t tell the whole story, and I think you have to also consider other factors as well, especially if he is only driving to the basket on average 3 times a game. Sharp’s a guard, and obviously one of the ball-handlers on the team. Thus, the more the ball is in his hands, the more likely or greater chance he has at getting fouled. Something else to consider (and maybe pesik can find this), how many times has Sharp been fouled on a 3-point attempt? Off the top of my head, I know it’s been a handful. So, if he’s fouled on a 3-point shot, he’s also getting an additional free throw attempt at the line, thus, contributing to hiking up his number there.

It is also highly possible (maybe not so much this year YET) that Sharp – being the best (or most-trusted) free-throw shooter on the team – is the one the Coogs are looking to get the ball to in situations late in games where teams are forced to foul and need Sharp to protect leads at the line.

Most of this talk is nothing but BS…….

……the real issue is Roberts right knee. Is it going to be a problem again this year ??

If so, not good.

He’s the best PLAYER not just ball handler…

Jojo and LJ are close seconds…

Let me ask y’all this… we’re on the court picking teams… who are you and @pesik picking first?
