LJ always looks like he just woke up. Give me Sharp and TA all day.
Yes, and keep in mind that all I’m demonstrating is that it is NOT “wild” for me to have stated:
In my biased opinion, Jones is a slightly better version of LJ Cryer.
…And to your unrelated but relevant point, maybe it’s not a great thing that “the guy” has comparble numbers to a “bench player”, as Pesky has so respectfully characterized Curtis Jones.
So I’ll go ahead and award you more points on your argument for Sharp based on that alone.
You’re entirely correct. What cutoff would you like me to include in quality of opponent?
Not being facetious, you can set the terms and I will give you the numbers
P4 opponents only? KenPom top 50…75…100?
I will gladly do it. I enjoy this kind of stuff.
I’m not spending all this time on a message board for an elite basketball school I respect that is 800 miles away because I have no idea what I’m saying, ya know?
I like seeing Tugler drive to the basket and use his right handed hooks, it looks so much better than that left handed floater him and Francis try for style points. But yes, Tugs is getting there. This team, barring injuries, is going to be the real deal by the end of the season…
Let’s start here, 3 games HEAD TO HEAD:
Cryer v Jones
MP - 99 v 68
PTS - 20 v 17
FGs - 7/31 v 5/20
FG% - 22.5 v 25.0
3P - 4/19 v 4/11
3P% - 21.0 v 36.4
FT - 2/2 v 3/3
REB - 5 v 5
AST - 3 v 8
STL - 3 v 2
TOs - 8 v 2
A/TO - 3:8 v 4:1
or just waiting till conference play… and cutting at this point just makes the sample size worse
im saying this knowing it would benefit LJ, as the better the team the more we’ve relied on him… his 2 lowest games are 2 of the worst 3 teams on your schedule … but analytically i know it means less with a smaller sample size
inversely tamin has been improving, using only this seasons stats, so far, as a judge for him wouldnt tell the whole story…up till 2 games ago he was having a horrific season …youd get the concept that the sample size is too small
if is said khalil brantley (ok state), frankie collins (tcu) are better pgs than tamin … who had bad stats this year but better than tamin, and have bad career stats unlike taminn… youd tell me to slow my role
Oh, I dont disagree you also have a point.
And I would add to your point that there’s no way either of us would fully grasp the nuance of each individual guy on the opposing team too.
Like for example, our own coaching staff has admitted they didn’t even have any clue that Curtis Jones would be a good shooter from range like he is, or even really a scorer at all.
He was at Buffalo for a reason, and they brought him in as a depth piece and character guy with a high motor who wouldnt cry and go home running our defensive system. And MAYBE they might be able to develop his 6’5 frame into an emergency backup PG when our original backup PG blew his ACL.
Jones was actually hot garbage in the ENTIRE non-con last year and nobody could have predicted he’d become the player he is today. Any Cyclone fan would have laughed at the thought.
LJ Cryer has been a very good and well respected guy in the role he is for a very long time. And he deserves credit for that just the same as Jones deserves to be recognized as a fast riser and a force once everything finally clicked out of nowhere.
Didnt we already solve this with RPAM
Roflmao “might could rebound the hook shot (from half court).”
I got $100 says $harp continues to start the rest of the season unless he gets injured…
Spot up shooter on a deep offensive team vs having to more frequently create his own shot.
Grimes in 2019-20 before he got more consistent, confident, and aggressive. But Grimes always had a higher potential ceiling than LJ.
You guys seen Deeky Jarreau release some sweet clothes!! He’s having some sort of event tomorrow I’m going to check it out I thnk you guys should too…
He also has a website http://lostkaracter.shop/ nice.
Is this Deeky! ![]()
I kidd I kidd!!
This to me indicates that the current team is still defining ways/roles to close out games. So it’s basically a single issue that will either be resolved or won’t. If it does, we could go all the way. If not, likely similar end as last year.
That’s not why we lost last season… $head got injured. I believe that we would’ve beaten Duke without that injury…
LJ right behind Shead and Gray on that list.
Mark if the matchup is right
I’d take Gray and Shead over LJ but Deeky and Mark would be a toss up. Love GRob but there are quite a few guys that I would rather have shoot the last shot than him.
Agreed. What I meant was we likely go out in the Sweet 16.
