Game 23: #8 Houston @ #16 BYU (W 77-66)

The conference fined Colorado for it.

Arizona “suspended” a couple people who started the chant for I can’t remember how long. BYU’s coach talked about it after the OSU game and what it’s like talking to his kids about why people are chanting against them.

I’m not sure what the answer is. :man_shrugging:t3:

Those kids are generally a reflection of how their parents raised them…kind of a sobering thought.

Like I said earlier, I think the vast, vast majority don’t mean anything by it…

But I agree with you.

I have worked in education for a while. Some of the things I’ve seen would terrify you. Sometimes the parents are way scarier than the kids.

Reverse-jinx lol.

In all seriousness, this game worries the heck outta me. I fully expect a loss and will be (more than) pleasantly surprised if we happen to pull out a win

This is the way.

I actually think that Sampson would go yell at our students during the game if they started doing something like that.

We all love to bash on Tech, but their coaches did get or ahead of it before football and basketball games.

I don’t get the “f the Mormons” chants for a couple of reasons

  1. It’s just broadly disrespectful, and not in like a fun poking fun at things sort of easy I could probably let that slide. But it’s just being a turd bucket.

  2. It’s incredibly lame. It’s a change for stupid people, and I don’t mean “oh it’s stupid kids, doing stupid kid things” l mean “oh you’re uncreative, moronic slapnut.”

Part of this I blame on our crappy society where such things are now ok. But also on American crowd culture in general where virtually all churches everywhere are absolute garbage. I mean soccer in Europe they have whole dang songs dedicated to trashing an opponent. We have “overrated”, “bullshit!t”, etc. It’s just all so lame.

Soccer fans meet up at the pep rally or the local pub and practice those chants lol

I’m impressed that they all chant and sing in unison for 5 minutes straight.

IMHO Soccer only exists in Europe so people can get loaded for 6 straight hours.

Three words I will never forget as long as I live: North Carolina State

Coogs won’t need luck and given the current defensive weakness of the Blue Cougs Coogs are likely to win in a laugher.

Rooted for Coogs ever since Olajuwon and was saddened last year. Except for when they play the Blue Cougs I like seeing Sampson’s group do well.

Right now given the dismal showing by the Blue Cougs this fan is a continual state of disappointment. Hope BYU can give the Coogs a real game but most fans expect a blow out loss. Maybe a little Marriott magic?

I had the same experience when I worked in the psych unit at Oklahoma Children’s Memorial Hospital. Except for when the kids really had a screw loose, most were there for behaviors that were a result of bad parenting.

the coogs are playing second fiddle today, sportscenter has a duke-unc banner up on its scroll; doesnt roll over to cougars times two later; hope duke - unc is a good game all the way thru so coogs get a good lead in.

2.5 down to 1.5 reminding me of UConn last night vs St. John’s…wouldn’t surprise me if coogs give it up this one versus cougs…no play this game!

Film study from Provo: Jayme @iScoutUH31 scouts the Big 3 of AJ Dybantsa, Richie Saunders, and Rob Wright III.

Dybansta gets the headlines, but Saunders is elite. He has a quick release and can shoot from deeeep. Get smart on the Co(u)gs:
