I see LDS being used as a short-hand fairly often.
Freedom of speech to make plays like this whether tactful or notā¦
But in arenas it can be banned imo
I agree. I think schools should ban it, and stuff like the aforementioned Texas tech chant.
Ban cussing from college kids?
Like the BULLSH!T cheer?
Or our students with the āmotherfu__inā Cougars?
Iām gonna go way out on a limb and say that isnāt feasible. ![]()
You could ban religious slurs/denigration of religions being chanted at gamesā¦
Idk how youād enforce it⦠technical foulā¦?
I know thatās outside the box but that wiuld workā¦
I think it already is. Schools just donāt go after students for that stuff because it just makes it worse.
I would definitely not favor calling techs because of language from the crowd. That would get out of hand in a hurry. Our refs canāt even call fouls consistently - we definitely donāt want to task them with determining insults.
Not singular insults but a chant is easy to recognizeā¦
Cue the Tech fans buying Houston gear and sneaking into the student section ![]()

True⦠canāt trust those unwashed heathens!
It would be naive to think they donāt already have a few moles in place around the conferenceā¦
If I bet on this, I guarantee the opposite happens. Thatās how my bets work
A whole section of us got thrown out of a Coog softball game back in 09 or so, when one guy called the ump a moron for calling a foul tip strike 3 on a pitch above the head with no ping sound from the bat.
Coach immediately called the conference office.
Baseball umps are notorious for the rabbit ears. We donāt need more of that from officials.
I was there at that game. Umpireās name was Walter

The dilemma for the B12 Conference is to take action, someone needs to register a complaint. I believe coaches are fearful, not only because they think their reputation will take a hit among their peers, but because filing a complaint with the conference will become public and other schools will copycat the chant.
