how good has Manny been down the stretch?!?
I have a lot of emotional trauma to unpack from last nightâs comeback, but now that Iâve had time to sit in it and sleep a little bit â I am still absolutely stunned. Here are a few quick thoughtsâŠ
- We lose that game if Cryer was even SLIGHTLY worse â he kept us in it long enough to still be able to grasp for victory.
- Jojo with a boneheaded tech, but he was incredible to place himself in the right spot to be able to catch Mylikâs missed three for the put back to bring us within 1.
- Jwanâs focus on those free throws is a testament to his maturity. A freshman probably gets rattled enough to miss them.
- Jamal Shead has been and probably will always be my favorite Coog, but dang it if Emmanuel isnât trying to knock him off that shelf. His ability to knock down contested shots and his quick grab on that inbound at 30 seconds is a thing of beauty â hang it in the Lourve.
- I said it in January and Iâll say it again: Mylik Wilson is without a doubt the perfect encapsulation of a CKS player through and through. Developed within the culture and I canât be more thankful that he chose to stay with the team when we brought on LJ. His defense and rebounding won that game for us down the stretch.
I can say with confidence that I never gave up watching that game last night, but I was paper-thin from falling apart. But the Kansas game ruined college basketball for me because now I will always have that nagging voice in the back of my head that says âitâs never over until itâs over.â And the Duke revenge game was cold-blooded and brutal â I canât even imagine how Duke fans are feeling. I made sure to shake as many Duke hands as I could on the way out and say good game because Iâve actually enjoyed watching them this year.
Iâm so freaking proud to be a Coog. Now letâs bring the whole thing home.
Technically both. They did top 50 for 50 years of NBA and then again at 75 years
The last 1:14 of the game with UH down five.
Well I hope I gave you a chest bump or high five lol
One more: Duke would have been helped to have watched tape of our win at Kansas because Flagg getting the over-the-back foul was EXACTLY what happened to Flory because our bigs arenât going for the rebound, theyâre just boxing out â which is what Jwan was doing.
Lights were bright and our guys showed up.
That Eman shot to cut it to a one possession - you gotta have ice in your veins for that one. SHEESH!
Love this team.
Iâll say this on the Flagg over the back call. If you watch closely JâWan was actually grabbing Flaggâs shorts with his right hand. Prevented from jumping and made it look like an over the back. Thatâs some veteran Rodman or Draymond move right there. Sometimes you gotta be crafty.
Forgive me Coogfathers for I have sinned. My faith grew weak when we were down by 14 with 8 minutes to go.
Say 5 Hail Maryâs and then sin no more. Go in peace, and GO COOGS!!
One of the best moments in Houston Cougars sports history my friends and I was there to see it. We were done and over and somehow managed to pull it out. Flagg is a freak and Duke is extremely good but Sampson and co. Got it done!

And BEATING DUKE LAST NIGHT
In no particular order
Will the last CougarNation fan out of Houston turn out the lights Monday night ![]()
Is this actually what happened, tho?
Kellen Sampson joined Galen Robinson last night in the locker room for an interview. This is one to watch:
Is what? Iâm not sure which comment youâre referring to.
He was doing that all game, too.
People talking about the over the back as if that didnât actually help Duke. For one we still ended up with the ball on the rebound. Two if put Jwan (a 62% FT shooter) at the line for a 1 and 1. It also ensured that Duke had enough time to run an actual play being down 1 at worst. Honestly I think the refs tried to screw us with that call but it backfired lol
