Game of the Century Item

So I’m a bit of a nerd with this stuff.
My friend that I got the cheerleaders megaphone from, gave this to me over the weekend.
Student calendar from 1967/1968. She has all her stuff marked on the calendar, but what makes it cooler for me……take a look at January 20, 1968.

Very cool. That’s a find!!

It’s even cooler (to me), that it was given to me by someone who was there.

My Fraternity sold the programs on 01/20/1968 and I had one…free to me.

Did not keep it. What a shame.

They are still around. I’ve got one signed by Big E.

What a treasure!

I also regularly sold programs at Delmar. We sold 500 to 1,000.

On 01/20/1968 we sold 10,000 and could have sold 20,000 if UH had thought to order that many. It was not anticipated that 52,000 would show up when Programs were ordered.

What happened that night, is something few expected. We didn’t realize the history that we were making during that game.

I not only lost my program from that game but also long ago lost the ticket stubs…nothing but memories left to prove I was there.

Memories are never a bad thing to keep.
I love hearing the stories of people who were there.

West Texas and Lamar Tech sandwiched the big game.

I was at the West Texas State game. UH opened the game in their infamous
full court press. It was 12-0 before the Buffaloes crossed half court.
