IMO losing close games gets you closer to winning close games. In close games our weaknesses have been exposed.in an obvious way. The thing that I see is we don’t have to go to ONE guy to get a basket. The defense can’t sit on one guy, they have to guard all of them. Our shots didn’t fall in a couple of those close games, but I expect them to shortly.

Not only do I agree with that 100%, I’ll add…

We are really spoiled in how few close games we even have. And that is because rather than playing in a lot more close games, we regularly bury so many of our opponents. Seriously, some points in these past several season, the games are lopsided and some could argue, boring.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m advocating for more opportunities to learn how to come thru in the clutch. But in “close” games this season, a part of me would still rather be 2-4 than 16-5 (assuming we win the blowouts).

A few thoughts….

Milos: Not sure the criticism here is warranted. He’s significantly better offensively this month than the rest of the season. He may not have been great vs TT but he has been very good this month. He’s not the finished that Shead was but very adept at probing for openings in the D and hitting the floater or setting up his teammates. Very happy with Milos.

J’wan: His performance the last couple games has been fantastic. I really like the running drives the staff has incorporated into his game and anticipate they’ll add cutters to prevent more double teams going forward, given his passing abilities. His recent performance should be Exhibit A when recruiting Koa.

Mylik: Why did he tempt fate and go without the sleeves last night?

Terrance: For 90’s era Rockets fans, it’s becoming more and more clear that Terrance has a little Robert Horry in him. Talented but can play very passive and then show up out of nowhere. If I were the staff, I’d make getting him quick buckets a priority when he enters the game. His confidence rises and plays more aggressively when this happens.

Tugler: Not sure if it was mentioned after the WV game but the staff spam fed Tugler in the first half and I thought he did a great job. It was an interesting wrinkle that could provide huge later in the year if J’wan gets banged up or is in foul trouble. I’d like to see more of this, especially against this upcoming lighter stretch in the schedule.

I noticed that too. He started the game wearing white long sleeves under the jersey. Later in the game, you can tell the sleeves were ripped off. I’m not 100% sure, but I think there is a rule that if you wear sleeves under your uniform, it must be the same color.

Correct

Horry played lock down defense. Horry was one of the only guys in the NBA who could stop Larry Bird. TA isn’t even in his zip code. TA reminds me of a very young (UNC) Michael Jordan a little bit

So a critique fBird’s back was gone and he retired in 92. Horry’s rookie year, not the same as locking up 80’s Bird. Not saying it’s not still pretty good, but Larry was done at that point.

Other than that if undeveloped MJ is your comp that’s still pretty good

Juwan keep us in the game, but I think he lost the game for us.

At the end there he was pressing too much leading to three turnovers, almost back to back. and the critical walk in OT.

If he simply kicks the ball back to Cryer at the end of regulation, we walk away with a win.

Play with your teammates.

Finally decided to review the boxscore.
2nd half, out shot TT. We made 15 FGs Tech 7. Shot 46.9% to their 33%. Out rebounded Tech 23-12! Out scored them in the paint 22-4!

Where we came up short, tournovers. Only turned them over twice.

And worst of all., Free throws. They took 20 to our 4! 20-4. GFTO.

It was 20-1 at one point! Worst hosing since I got my car washed at a high school fundraiser.

I think the move with TArc starting in place of injured sharp - give Terrance more isos and see what he can do driving to the basket.

Think him getting comfortable/more practice with that can unlock another level of our offense.

We won the battle on the floor, but game was decided at the line.

46 total fouls in that game. Horrible.

Refs were definitely trying to make up for tossing Toppin.

Sharp should have been in a boot and street clothes. CKS is starting to get on my nerves as he (1) does not know when to sit a key player, (2) no creativity for a game winning shot and (3) not working in plays for LJ to knock down a shot late in games.

Ok NAME the guy to replace him

If CKS is getting on your nerves, Dickey would have made you epileptic.

I thought Tech played perimeter D pretty dang well. I also thought their defensive rebounding was sound.

I don’t know how you defend their step-back at the perimeter. We knew they weren’t gonna drive and yet they continued to step back and hit three’s.

I think part of Uzan’s hesitancy late is him being new and taking CKS’ script (J’wan) as Gospel. Sometimes you have to defer to Sampson’s first rule. If you’re open then shoot.
