Milo’s needs to attack the basket and at least draw fouls, Shead was relentless about attacking and making buckets off the glass
Milo lacks the elite speed and athleticism that Jamal has. People are used to watching the point guard, hesitate, and then blow by people and get straight to the paint and goal.
I think Milo suffers from expelling so much energy on the defensive end. He has to be exhausted, trying to beat guys off the dribble and get to the paint as well.
Part of our strategy might be protecting Milo a little bit on office so he can continue to play defense as tough as he has been.
I started to see them do that pick and roll more, where Milo is expected to shoot that floater Or find the open man. I don’t think you’re gonna draw too many fouls shooting floaters.
He did a good job drawings fouls against Kansas
Man, how quickly the natives turn. Milos was a star in the Kansas game and now posters want to bench him. Relax. Milos learns and gets better with each game. The goal is to put it together in March, not November through February.
Kinda of like i kept seeing Hello being typed for helicopter for abbreviation instead of Helo.
Hello was sang by Lionel Richie last i checked.
That’s great.

If y’all haven’t had a chance to listen to the interview with Kellen last night, I highly recommend it. There’s a great discussion about how a game like this make guys (coaches included) more receptive to making changes to improve the team, where they may not have been quite as motivated after an “ugly win.”
He also acknowledged that the team is having to adjust to a bunch of additional attention after the Kansas win (for those who doubted we were “under the radar”).
I’d say the smaller guard’s quickness was bothering Milos and perhaps contributing to the turnovers. I do think Coach has Milos so afraid of turnovers that it impacts the way he plays. A guard that drives with more reckless abandonment can create some amazing plays, but they also turn the ball over more.
He’ll figure it out
1000%
Maybe we should have worn traditional uniforms. Aw snap
wow… so are you saying that when we lose it’s because something goes wrong??? What an astute observation. Very much worth shaking up the staff even though we win way more big close games than we lose.
we don’t win more close games than we lose…we’ve yet to beat Alabama and have yet to win it all in the Tournament.
YES…we are at that level of expectation… we need a little something to push us over the top.
Ugly Ball won’t get us there…you have to win many games in a row in the Dance!
yes we do. just say you’re a casual and keep it moving
a casual what…I watch every game…lol
have for a long time.
Others agree with me
Just for the record, Houston only has 6 single digit games this entire year. We are 2-4 in those games so we are losing 2/3 of games that are going down to the wire or close to it. We have 15 double digit wins and zero double digit losses. It’s awesome that we have played some of the best in the country and have beaten or have been in position to beat any and all of them but at the same time we clearly are having issues when we find ourselves in the rare close game. Some of it may be bad luck, some of it may be learning and getting better, I just hope we get it figured out before March Madness because we can’t go in there needing to win each game by 10+ points. I trust the staff to do exactly that
TA has to step up… he can get that fade away mid-range whenever he wants it… and it’s $.
His comment isn’t just about this season tho. Since we became a top program again, we have gone 73-32 in the past 7 seasons in games decided by 10 points or less. Never have finished a season with a losing record in <10pt games. So I think that’s a better trend to understand if our staff is able to get our team to win close games than handwringing about early season losses from November when we’re clearly not the same team we were 3 months ago. We’re 2-1 in close games since the start of conference play. That’s also a more important trend to note.
This sums it up. Look at coaches performance over his tenure as opposed to a small sample size from part of one season. He has proven he can win close games.
TA had a nice finish at the basket against Tech. Would love to see more of that from him and Uzan. TA and Uzan both have size for their position if they can get inside then that’s when our offensive rebounding will cause problems for opponents when you already know our bigs will be in there as well being a handful
