What are your guys thoughts? Do we coast to a win?
I don’t think we’ll coast to a win. Auburn is too good (#5 in KenPom). However, if we do coast to a win, I might have to join the ranks of those in the Best Team Ever thread who think we’ll go undefeated this year. I will say we should be favored, and while I’m not a fan of ESPN’s Matchup Predictor, it really likes our chances.

Honestly Auburn may be on upset alert tonight against Vermont. Vermont just got through knocking off UAB, who was the preseason favorite in the American. They’re a sneaky good program.

Tonight might be a good indicator, but they also could looking past Vermont for us. Regardless of the outcome, I think they play us tough. Picked to finish 2nd in a very tough SEC.

Auburn last year looked to me like the biggest fakers in the top 25. 3-7 in Quad 1 yet still NET #5 for some reason.
Then they were shown a Round 1 exit in the tourney. Obviously, that one loss doesn’t confirm that they were fakers, but it doesn’t help.

I like the way this site does predictions. Granted, it’s early-season with limited data and is probably based mostly on last year, but that score prediction feels about right.
Auburn has some size and experience in the paint, and that has given us some trouble in the past. If we have J3 all playing, I think we have the advantage. And they do have some shooters. I think it’s a great early-season match-up for us.

Watched the game tonight. Auburn likes to full court press after made buckets. Like to run and gun on the offensive side

Our first real game and theirs too.
I expect a real physical game.
It will be interesting how we shoot against a decent defense.
Of course our biggest test early will be against Alabama in Vegas. The Tide has beaten us twice in heartbreaking games. And Sears is real

vermont is a real game… they are a top 80 team… that already beat aac favorites/ tournement team from last year UAB in game 1
dont get me wrong, we are drastically better than vermont, but beating them the way they did is a statement …vermont isnt a scrub

This is something the current crew will have to prove they can manage without Shead. It’s always dicey in the early season before everyone has figured out what to do.
