GO COOGS
BEAT RICE
Nice work !
Go Coogs eat 'em up …hoot…hoot…CHOMP !
Owl meat fajitas anyone?
Drove by Rice Stadium. They are putting the flags up on the East and West sides of the stadium.
The parking attendants are out…doing nothing.
I thought it was supposed to be a sellout
Hell no cmon now we could not draw a decent opening week crowd, thank god the students showed up at least, and y’all think Rice is gonna sell out lol, they don’t even draw a crowd
They held a pep rally yesterday on campus. They’re really trying to push for one.
Saban and Howard picked rice
This is a standing room only game.
The Bayou Bucket is on the line
Bragging rights ifor Houston
Traffic for miles
College Gameday atmosphere despite the snub
Did they pick them to win outright? Or cover?
It’s at Rice.
Likely under 30K, mostly UH fans.
Like Saban and Howard have watched one minute of either team play. Treat the predictions for what they are. Entertainment.
Cover
Right lol
In the transition from Bloomgren to Abell and to the run-based Spread Option, Rice returns only 33% of their 2024 two-deep on the depth chart.
2024’s starting QB is now Fresno State’s starting QB. The starting RB is now Houston’s starting RB. Starting LT and LG are now playing for Ohio State and North Carolina.
Rice did add through the portal but while they added quite a few sixth year seniors, those seniors did not bring alot of starts and snaps with them.
Sixth year seniors: SLOT1 Aaron Turner (Cincinnati: 82 snaps last season), WR2 Artis Cole (ULM 421 snaps), RUSH2 Tony Anyanwu (SFA 21 tackles as a backup), CB1 Omari Porter (Stanford: 2 starts in his career), CB1 Khary Crump (HCU: 40 tackles last season)
Fifth year seniors: DE2 Sam Carrell (TX Tech: 30 snaps), SS1 Jack Kane (Oregon St: 32 tackles last season) TT1 Sean Sullivan (Yale: starting LG in 2023 - depth in 2024)
Rice’s OL has a solid center but it doesn’t appear that the OL is better than last season. They added an OT from Yale that started in 2023 but not 2024
I’d watch out for SLOT1 Dickman. The kid has serious track speed 10.55 100m.
The defense has two returning starters DT Boenisch and FS Hook who are solid but overall there isn’t a ton of firepower here.
I am sure Rice will play with a lot of fire opposing a team that is four miles away, a factor you can’t discount. You also have to remember it is an offense Houston isn’t used to seeing.
Rice is better than SFA. A step up in competition. Hopefully Houston answers the bell in the first quarter and starts fast, never looking back.
Houston 27 Rice 13
Well given that Saban has a lot more free time nowadays, I wouldn’t be too surprised if he watches game highlights. Maybe ours.
Any type of tailgates today at Rice?
