I can’t believe I’m this excited about a team other than my own. The Coogs have been a joy to watch for the past 2-3 seasons. The way CKS has built the team and the way he has them playing the game is just so much fun to watch. I really want a deep enough run to get the entire city pumped up about Cougar Basketball. Last year I said all season long that the Coogs were a S16 team and I was only off by a made 30 footer.

This year is Elite 8 / Final Four. Just need a couple of good bounces at the right time.

It’s a Cougar Red Friday for me today GO COOGS!

Said Panthers guard D’Marcus Simonds: “They really like to play in transition and work hard defensively. They’re really similar to how we play.”

With this difference. Simonds again: “They really crash the glass.”

Georgia State ranks 334th of 351 Division I teams in rebounding margin. Houston is No. 8. Hunter insists that rebounding “is one of the most misleading stats out there” – to be fair, it can be hard to rebound when playing a zone – but that would appear to be the one place the Panthers don’t measure up. Still, the NCCA tournament isn’t a best-of-7; it’s one game, and if the Panthers start making 3-pointers, Houston might have to go smaller than it wants.

Key matchup: Damon Wilson vs. Corey Davis Jr.

It’s likely Wilson, Georgia State’s 6-foot-5 guard, will be assigned to the Cougars’ leading scorer. An off-and-on starter, Wilson moved back into the starting lineup — allowing Devin Mitchell to come off the bench — to provide a tough perimeter defense in the Panthers’ 2-3 matchup zone. Davis, a first-team All-AAC selection, has been nursing a strained hip suffered in the league tournament game. The injury bothered Davis, who was just 3-of-13 from the floor for 12 points in his worst game of the season

It’s gameday baby!!! Let’s start the road to the championship

Against K State and Cincy Ga St was up by a very small margin with 9 minutes left to play then lost by double digits. The same script may show up tonight.

I think CKS is more insulted by the “rebounding is overrated” comment than the “grandpa” comment.

Every game was a road game for me when I lived in Central Texas and Grand Prairie. I was proud to travel and to rep all of Houston. I dove up and down I-35 with my UH door logos on my Mustang!
