I don’t think that is the case. When we got sent to the MW regional, our games were pre-determined to be on Friday and Sunday fir the duration. Playing the early game tonight would likely not have made a difference in Washington’s play.
We were out rebounded by 13 and gave up a ton of second chance opportunities. Not many teams win like that. C’mon now.
Here are a few facts:
We were out rebouded 36 to 23
We had 7 turnovers, they had 14
We were 9 of 12 from the FT line, they were 14 of 19.
They scored 5 more FTs than we did – we lost by 4.
In spite of everything, we out scored them on the floor 49 to 48, they out scored us at the line 14 to 9.
Don’t tell me we didn’t play well.
Proud of the Coogs. They gave it their all.
The success of our season as a whole was largely dependent on rebounding. We might not have out rebounded UK but we needed to do a much better job to be successful. Like I said, their bigs were just better.
Their bigs are not better. Their bigs are bigger.
We did great for small guys. We did great for most big guys.
Kentucky is a long term powerhouse for decades.
Feel joy that our university came close. We need to find the next Big E, the next Hakeem.
I agree with the premise that we weren’t going to out rebound Kentucky. But what couldn’t do is get our heads handed to us in the glass, and that’s what happened.
The 25 to 15 stat is just defensive rebounds. Kentucky also has 11 offensive rebounds. That was the killer.
It was a great run. Time to focus on our #6 ranked track and field team.
This is exactly right.
and thats why Kentucky has so few loses
not many teams win with their guards going 2 for 14…thats why we win alot of games…
we knew what their strength was, and we almost overcame it…
Our strength is also rebounding. And we got crushed in that category. That was the difference in the game.
Back off bud! Don’t think I ever said we did not play well. I think I said that rebounding hurt us more than anything else …
Now that’s just not true. Their bigs were both bigger and better tonight. The stat sheet makes that obvious. If our bigs we’re even somewhat of a threat to score and rebound some more tonight we probably win.
The reason doesn’t matter anymore. We need to hope Sampson comes back. One thing there is no doubt about was that the team fought HARD!! Which makes me feel Sampson is not cut from the same cloth as Herman
Semantics, but okay. Their bigs “outplayed ours tonight”.
UNC has the #1 rebounding margin in the country…kentucky out rebounded UNC by 12…
again kentucky is the best rebounding team in the country,
them outrebounding us isnt an issue which just how good they were and the fact that we hav tiny bigs …we werent going to get magically bigger…
i have more of an issue with are inability to create shoots …and ball movement than i do with the rebounding, when you put everything in context
Soooooo… do we want, or will we Kentucky win it all?
Yeah, I just realized that and corredted. it was really 36-23. They had 11 ORB and 15 DRB we had 8 and 15.
First half made we start wondering since we just didn’t look like the same team we’ve watched all year, second half proved I was wrong.
