Gearing the O to the talent on hand

I’m a fan of the WF hire. What is confounding me a bit is that he has ALWAYS set up the O to accommodate the talent on hand.

At SHSU they can wide-open, threw it all over the place. And had Flanders as an RB.

At Ga. Southern, he kept the option that was installed before he got there.
At Tulane…well, it was Tulane. Not really sure what garbage pile he inherited there. But he did run clock to shorten games.

CDH lined up in 3 WR formations with 1 RB most of the time. But we lost most of our WR to the portal. He also tried establishing the run. I’m not sure what you call the CDH offense. Pro-style?

It looks like CWF wanted to go pro-style thinking DS could complete 3rd and 4 passes for a first down. That turned out not to be true.

I think a real RPO (with some option thrown in) is the best O for Chriss if he can stay healthy. It is just tough to tell what was left over from the CDH era for CWF to build on for an O. Much more like Tulane than SHSu or GSU.

Good points. I just wish CWF would have decided to go with Zeon from the beginning and built the RPO offense around him. Ale would have been a very adequate backup. Going with Donovan has been so detrimental to the team. But CWF thought he was doing the right thing going with the senior. I get that

A good OC judges and evaluates the talent, strengths and weakness of the personnel available and molds the most effective offensive scheme, making adjustments as needed. This is on Barbay.

All I know is Tulane is threatening to win back to back AAC championships, gottA speak for something

The Texans couldn’t even stop a 4 man rush today let alone a blitz.

Pretty sure all styles of offense are not good with a below average OL

I think it’s a fair question to ask what should be done differently; from what I can tell, our RB can’t find a hole, the OL can’t block, and the receiving corps can’t get open or catch. We’re completing about 2/3 of our passing plays, which is actually good for top-25 in the nation, but we’re bottom-third in the country in terms of:

  • Passing Yards per Game
  • Passing Yards per Attempt
  • Rushing Yards per Game
  • Rushing Yards per Attempt

I don’t really know what you’re supposed to do with that as a coach. Unless this coaching staff is fireably bad at identifying talent on the team, it seems like we just don’t have the dudes to compete, in a way that we can’t scheme away. Stacey Sneed, our best rusher, is averaging 5.7 yards per carry, which seems good until you realize that’s 79th-best in the country.

Smu won the American last season but Tulane did play in it.

w/ the QB switch and difference in their skills, feels more like this season is a wash. at least Chriss is a sophomore

Ask Seth Littrell about that.

BREAKING: Seth Littrell is out as the #Sooners’ offensive coordinator after just eight games.

Sources indicate tight ends coach Joe Jon Finley will take over as the principal playcaller.

A predictable action at OU.

The real problem,of course, is their Head Coach. He is under major evaluation right now.

Give him one more season. Then watch out!

Willie Fraud is too busy counting his money to be concerned with offense. Same goes for defense and special teams. He is terrible. If people thought Dana was checked out (and I did) and that Fritz was going to bring focus, discipline and execution to a team with less than optimal talent (like I did) then you are disappointed (like me).

ridiculous. dude has too solid a track record to say crap like this
