It was about female candidates of color for the AD job!
I couldn’t care less if they are a woman or what ethnicity they are. I just want them to be a home run hire. Our athletic department depends on it. We should hire because they are the BEST qualified to lead this athletic department first. Not because of their gender or ethnicity.
I’m pretty sure 96 is throwing out a line to see who bites.
Several of you have.
Lighten up.
Yes, thats where I was going with JJ. We need a “name” in Houston that will make corporations pause and say “UH hired him/her as AD? Wow.” And then take that momentum and do the work to turn it into dollars.
Look at what the Texans do for the city in dollars. We have a chance to be half (or 30-40%) Texans. That is huge money and the story that needs to be sold.
We paid Pez $625K. JJ makes that doing commercials. We can find a fundraiser/salesman, but we may have to look outside the sports world for someone who can sell to large corporations along with local firms.
Fans get out over their skis on this sort of stuff. We don’t need a celebrity.
I was curious about Boise St.'s NIL program and Googled this article below.
I like the “What’s Next Program” described. I clicked that link in the article and learned that Boise St was a nominee for “Best Institutional NIL Program Award” in 2022. Their competition were some heavy hitters: Arkansas, Auburn, Michigan, Oklahoma State and Ohio State.
I am not sure how this differs from UH’s NILs but it is definitely worth exploring during Dickey’s interview for AD.
I’m still waiting on that phone call from Renu or Tillman to get my advice; I wonder if they called when my phone was off.
Whoever it is I’m going to say it was a bad hire so in a few years if they do something I don’t like I can show my receipts.
Do both (good hire / bad hire) spaced a couple of months apart. Nobody will remember both & later you can recall the winner — Old Wall St. Analyst’s trick
Well, I’m an Italian-American with 2 bad knees … that should bolster UH’s DEI rating, right?
Thank you for your service.
Maybe if you only had one knee. Having two knees is very patriarchal.
And just kept biting and biting…
Trev Alberts- He needs to get away from Nebraska to prove himself. OR If it’s just about money Lisa Campos.
Sexist and illegal
Being ‘personable’ at UH while UH wasn’t doing much? Pass
Deputy Athletics Director (May 2015-February 2017)
He was really proactive, made the rounds of the tailgating area, addressed concerns. That’s how he snagged the Boise job.
No perfect candidate exists. The hire will depend on whether admin views an AD as a fundraiser or bureaucrat in this new NIL environment of free agency. Just 10 years ago, the answer was easy. Now, not so much.
And I have no idea what kind of role Dickey would fill since Pez was fired. Will the folks on Cullen change course themselves and hire outside of the AD ranks?
I though that Trev Alberts was at TAMU?
Yes, he’s proving himself.
