I had never heard of this until I saw an article on it. American Caldwell, a higher education market research firm, measures university brand visibility over a 12-month period, using publicly available third-party data. The methodology includes news mentions, public interest through search activity, social media following, website visitors, web references, online footprint and video views. From this methodology, it creates a list of the universities who command the most global attention. This list includes universities outside the U.S.
Top five: #1 Harvard #2 MIT #3 Stanford #4 Purdue #5 University of Oxford
Here are some Texas university rankings
#6 Texas A&M (Hard to believe) #22 Texas-Austin #52 UH (Up 15 spots from last year) #67 Texas Tech #220 Baylor #327 TCU
Not Rated: SMU
ATM shouldn’t surprise you. 80,000 enrollment, the largest on campus enrollment, and study abroad in 110 countries. Not to mention their world-class alumni outreach. It’s a miracle they aren’t number 1.
Aggy supports itself and drives up every nook and cranny of social engagement. When it comes to brand velocity ATM hums.

I guess that includes both positive and negative news mentions.
