GoCoogs.com: Michael Bishop to join UH staff

He was my QB in high school. I haven’t seen him in years but he was great to me way back when.

He wouldn’t be the one Sam Houston would want for their head coach. That’d be his little brother Brian, who coached our alma mater to a 4A state title a few years ago and played QB at Sam and lead them to two straight FCS national title runner ups under… Willie Fritz

No.

But Bell may get promoted to “Passing Game Coordinator”.

Willie will figure out how to get them all titles to help their resumes and pay them.

The bottom line is, he’s bringing in extra help… highly qualified extra help… to maximize the opportunity for success.

Working toward an “embarrassment of riches”….

China Spring always got that butt whooped by La Vega

Maybe pre 2000 they did, but we beat la vega my senior year in 2000, and a few years later in like 2007? In the playoffs before we lost to celina in the state final. I stopped paying attention closely to Waco area high school football roughly around that time frame

Edited my senior year to say 2000 instead of 2001. I graduated may 2001, but my senior football season was fall 2000

My guess is that Bishop have a more general role with the offense that includes working with QBs but maybe not that title yet - maybe “offensive assistant” or something. He’s still kind of early in his coaching journey.

Maybe?

Who knows?

All I know is, Willie knows, and he’s earned the right to bring in who he wants / needs.

I believe you and I are on the exact same page, and you may be closer, with your guess than me.

The title is secondary to the discussion.

Michael Bishop isn’t being brought in as a “favor”. His experience, and similarities in playing style to Keisean is no accident…

I could see this being a “player development” type role, similar to what Anthony Goldwire filled with the basketball program prior to being promoted to full assistant coach.
