He started a thread the other day crying saying he didn’t do anything.

I’ve given him a fair amount of grief over the years. I do worry he doesn’t have a healthy outlet for his emotions during this difficult Coog fans time.

Well he can endure 1 more day unless the Aggie game goes bad for him. :grinning:

Therein lies the biggest problem. All political talk has to be moderated. But who does the moderation? Moderators who share the same opinion of the “offending” post are not likely to take action. Mods who share the opposite opinion will take stronger action. It gets even worse when it is moderated by people who really want the political discussion and who really want the “powers” that come with being a moderator.

I have been around messageboards and online forums since they have existed and in communities range from a few to thousands. Nothing good has ever come from political discussions and it only served to fracture the community. Fortunately for those who love to talk politics there are more options than ever to have those discussions and there are better venues that cater specifically to that type of discussion.

Not really

At the risk of starting a new argument, not all current issues need to become political discussions. However, they do now, much to the detriment of any productive discussion on a topic.

I favor keeping politics out of our sports and UH discussions.

And I reserve the right to change it again and on many different things.

Was really hoping you would hold to your convictions on that one, tho. That was a really big one (imo and many others’ o at least)

Please do not post political stuff. We will hide the post. Soon, we will have a more comprehensive policy on political posts:

It’s just not going to happen here.

Speaking for myself as a moderator, I didn’t ask to be one. I was asked and I said yes because I knew it was needed. I try to be fair and even handed with moderation. I get accused by the right and the left of not being fair, so I guess I’m doing it right. It isn’t easy, and I do want to be fair. However not every violation is necessarily comparable, and not every mod treats them the same way. So there is a lack of uniformity. For instance, I was more likely to hide offending posts and others were more likely to delete them.

Anyways, with new ownership, I am happy to continue as a mod. I’m also happy to follow what ever guidelines or expectations the new ownership sets as a mod. @monceaux just reach out to us all as a group and we can discuss whenever you wish.

P.S. the two hidden posts were completely unnecessary.

I believe strongly in free expression, but this is primarily a UH athletic board and a lot of loyal readers on this board do not care to read politics. Political discussion, by nature is combustible, but as long as the political guidelines are reasonable, those that want to post political opinion should be able to do so.

I hoping it will be hard rule for the sports boards and loose on the Satellite. We have good discussions over there
