Just have one main one. Majority of off topic threads get posted in football or basketball sections titles “OT: subject”. Just scroll down on the football section and see how many ot threads there are. Some don’t even need to be titled ot.
Thank you. I remember the old days of Coogfans and how some of the arguments/debates got quite heated.
I agee, we’re here to talk/debate UH and college sports, not about our view of non-sports issues in Washington and Austin

I can understand the desire to avoid toxicity. Thing is I’m adamantly against censorship especially censorship of entire ubiquitous topics like politics.
Looks like there is a little more tolerance in the Satellite now which is good, imho.
I remember seeing some of the political arguments spilling over to non political threads. It wasn’t kept civil. No need for that stuff here. If you want to talk politics get a reddit account and go to r/politics

That’s because the same 5-10 people dominate the satellite board now, Many I talk with don’t even visit it any longer. The random picture board used to have many more contributors than it does now. That’s why I have asked numerous times for the politics board be returned. Current events revolve around politics 90% of the time. So call it what it’s turned into or moderate to what it was intended to be.
If you want to “talk politics” (aka, argue with people whose opinions you’ll never change), there are literally millions upon millions of websites out there that will let you do so.
The politics board (and the toxicity that spilled over to sports forums) was the reason I left Coogfans for awhile.

And Coogfans are fans of a particular UNIVERSITY, with educated people that ought to be able to discuss current issues, most of which are political.

Coogfans explicitly states no politics. For you guys that can’t live without politics, there must be many other chat boards where you can argue to your hearts content.
But in all of your arguing, have you ever changed anyone’s mind? You really just want to spout your opinions and disregard anyone that disagrees with you.

How about “should”? That works better. 
Certainly some people couldn’t contain their arguments to the politics board. However, there are plenty of toxic posters in the sports boards that never post about politics.
Either way, you will always have disagreements that will go toxic.
Yes and true regardless of topic or subject matter. Yet it’s only politics that make some people overly sensitive while outright insults are otherwise tolerated. Ironic.
We are really distracting from the point of this thread.
The site owner has given his opinion on this. And frankly, we’ve discussed this issue ad nauseum.

Big differences between the boards. This board is crazy for generating loads of threads, most duplicative of existing ones. The Veer doesn’t prohibit it, but the peer pressure dampens most impulses. I hope to see some moderation regarding new threads.
Politics are prohibited. That ban works really well on The Veer. If members find it too restrictive, they are free to unsubscribe, take their money and leave.
Of course I’d like to see an actively moderated Politics forum here, but the owner gets to make the rules. We’ve gnawed the “free speech” bone to death in more than a few threads.
Conversations are usually less vitriolic on The Veer. Maybe we are just older as a group than over here. 
Also, many of us know each other in real life, which contributes to the tone.

If you want a politics board why don’t you go create your own site. This is their site and they can (and will) do what they want.
