Graphic: best “party” vs “athletic” schools

I don’t care what it’s classified as… you ever driven through it…?

If not, you should take 15 minutes and do it…

Dat’s major right there…

That number is misleading, there are 2 million people in the Cincinnati metro area.

Just like Houston city property doesn’t have seven million people but the metro area does.

Major… you could fit 3.5 Cincis in one HOUSTON.

Now… Dat’s MAJOR!

Seriously, though… I was surprised how small it is when I went and watched the AAC Championship game…

I drove out of the mountains (beautiful) and into downtown… I thought I could drive 15-20 minutes padt downtown and get a hotel but by that time I was in horse pastures…

They did have a bad a$$ party going down surrounding campus, though.

I’m guessing that Cincy is a lot like Cleveland, where you only have about 370K in the city limits, but over 2 million in the metro area and 3.6 million in the CSA.

Yep… not major…

Maybe it was a major city in 1970… they added a whopping 1600 people last year…

Fun venue to watch football if they’re doing well that season…

I guess if you consider the Dayton metro to be part of the Cincinnati metro area then it’s kind of big… they counting those people twice between Cinci and Dayton metros…

TCU is way underrated. What’s the methodology?

I think a number of people live in the Northern Kentucky area also don’t count towards the Cincinnati location.

I remember when Cincy was renovating their arena, that they used the UNK basketball arena as a temporary home similar with UH and TSU

I think one of the biggest issues that no one has posted about in regards to “party” life at UH is some of the issues with the on campus fraternities that have presented in the last 10 years - some have been kicked off, some were or have been put into probation. There was a student killed by a fraternity member who was driving under the influence back in 2016 & ever since that happened, Greek life has not been the same

The rules are more strict, etc.

Man… I wasn’t in a frat and I partied my a$$ off while going to UH…

I did party with O Di Phi a little bit…

Even had a nice tailgate building until TDECU was built and its corresponding garages…

But Cinci had that whole area surrounding campus POPPIN’ for the AAC Championship game…

Some wackjob kept calling us Coooo-ooooo-oogs…

Most students at UH come from Houston and surrounding area. They probably “party” with their friends they grew up with.

UH has “parties”, but you really have to know how to find them.

That being said, once you turn 21, house parties/frat parties kinda lose their luster and everyone just goes to bars

UH lacks on near-campus partying infrastructure

All I know is that I had a great time in the late 80s, early 90s living on or near campus at UH.

I graduated a couple of years ago and went to parties at frat houses, but they were always off campus. In a dream world we could turn some of the houses on Macgregor into a Frat Row.

I graduated in 2018, so I got to experience the Sigma Chi mansion for like 1 year because my friend was in it.

Compared to everyone else, Sigma Chi blew every other fraternity out of the water when it came to parties since they had an actual mansion (which they will never get back)

MacGregor will never allow fraternities ever again. They hated having fraternities back in the 70s/80s, and there aren’t enough modern-day UH students to be able to pay for actual mansions. The reason other schools have actual Greek Row is because many of those kids already come from wealth.

It would be best for UH to just tear down Bayou Oaks, and turn that entire area into Greek Row (that’ll never happen). MacGregor is never going to be UH Greek Row

Yeah, those little apartments are depressing, but maybe one day we’ll get some actual houses.

Is Arlington TX a major city? 400k people and a huge metro population

whoah, Second Ward is not Eado
