He had a pretty good career after leaving Houston.
Simmons was really good for the Spurs too
One of my fav - Sam Mack , remember him sitting on top of rim after cutting down nets at reunion arena , swc tourney champs …
Loved Byron as a player but can’t put anyone on a beat or favorite list that sued the school, especially on the ridiculous claim he made
Agree!
He was a fun player to watch but I do not care for him post Cougars career.
You’ve got it right. I think he’s the best UH player since Hakeem, an absolute beast that was a matchup problem for everyone he went against. Unfortunately he was only eligible every other semester
Don’t get me started on DD. Once again a travesty that his jersey is not recognized. Debatable whether he was the best to wear #42 for UH, although I watched both their entire careers at UH and IMO it’s Dwight. Regardless, since they don’t “retire” jerseys, his should be on the walls of FC and GVL
I still think we can do more to honor some of our previous greats around the new FC
No Gee Gervin? Simmons didnt contribute much here. Alton was good…didnt play to potential but worthy of being on the list. G William’s should have been if he didnt leave early. Just going off memory.
There are too many former great/good UH players to narrow down to a few, so I’ll say this…
I’m hoping that Grimes, Jarreau and Gorham (just to name a few) will have monster NBA and/or International careers and we’ll look back on this time as one of our all-time favorite moments.
Ford underachieved for the most part and played better his last 6 games then bolted.
Williams is a whatshouldhavebeen and left because of off the court issues.
Okafor did have a good finish to his Sr season. If we only could have had him 1 more season.
Gee I can see being on there
Or how crooked he was when he sold the big 6-11 kid to Agy because we wouldn’t give him a job. Guess who did?
Yep that was D.Jordan
I think BM has behaved like a scum since leaving but wanted to momentarily drop the hate to appreciate a player I loved watching.

Carl Herrera was pivotal in the Rocket’s championships. I remember games in those title runs where he would shoot 100% off the bench, and we are not talking 1 of 1 either.
Don’t forget Poo Welch. He was pre 1984.
There’s a few his missed but overall not bad and did his best to include some of our recent successes.
And Herrera played a good role on our 94 championship team.
Because of Deeky I’ve been thinking a lot about Brian Latham recently. I loved watching him play defense.
