In this moment in time, this game made everyone in Houston from the inner city to the suburbs feel amazed and proud.
Skipping to the longest kick return (of any kind) for a TD in college football history (IMHO based on where his foot was):
I was going berserk when he scored that return. I smacked a guy’s shoulder in front of me in celebration. He turned around and it was an OU fan lmao. He laughed it off though… the girl he was with was wearing Coog gear.
I got to watch this at Calhouns rooftop on campus, and that whole place went f****** nuts when that play happened. It was an absolutely amazing experience to see it happening real time.
We were such a strong team that year.
Here are some crowd shots I took.
The girl behind us passed out in the first half, there was a whole lot of drinking that morning.
Awesome game for sure. Some absolute studs on that roster.
Who knew that we had that many fans?
lmao I see a few of my old classmates in one of your pics. One of them has a birthday next week. I’ll send her this pic lol
Great shots. I remember getting in kinda early and was concerned because the vast majority of the OU fans were already in their seats and it looked like UH fans would be well outnumbered.
NOPE!
We’re just on a different schedule. UH fans showed up nicely.
Might be the best game I’ve ever seen. Wilson’s kick 6 is certainly the most memorable play I’ve seen live. Sooner fans were very confident coming into the building and very quiet on their way out!
Typical Houston fan schedule… show up late, leave early.
Either that play or Keenum diving into the endzone to beat Tech for me…
Undergrad me agrees. Damn bushes in the end zone almost killed me rushing the field.
Bushes, could have been worse.
That game proved that UH fans can show up en masse on a Saturday morning on a holiday weekend. It was amazing to see 3/4 of NRG in Cougar red. It just has to be a huge game for it to happen. And, boy, was that game huge.
The loudest cheer I’ve ever heard as it became clear he was actually going to score the Kick-6! My ears were ringing throughout the rest of the game and on the way home.
People who say that we were outnumbered by OU fans weren’t there or were simply deaf. I don’t think any OU fans were cheering on that play. It was all us and it was beautiful.
Our band is playing Deep in the Heart of Texas after that TD, nice touch
My son was too busy playing a game on his ipod and not paying attention to the game on the field. When the kick six happened and everybody around him started screaming, he was so startled he started crying!
Poor kid, but lesson learned, I guess!
I believe you guys mean “quick six” not “kick six”.
