Magic Man!
Love him ! was a joy to watch
judas had him play hurt for 16 months. He is a true U of H legend and a terrific spirit. I have no doubt that if he had not been injured he would have played even to another level. Just maybe he would be playing QB in the NFL right now.
Happy birthday to him. If he had the ball, the play was never over until the ref blew the whistle.
Happy birthday Ward!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GREG !!
I don’t know what the “it factor” is but whatever it is, he had it.
I still say CTL was under appreciated (and O’Korn did have a pretty good Freshman year) but he waited too long to make the switch and I still say if he’d still be coaching here had Ward scored against Cincinnati (regardless of the Tulane fiasco which pales in comparison to the more recent Tulane fiasco) which was as we say “this close” and I digress.
Top 5 QBs from UH.
- Andre Ware - Heisman nuff said.
- Danny Davis - First Cotton Bowl.
- Case Keenum - Class, Dignify, Production
- Greg Ward - see Case Keenum plus athletic.
- this one is tough. Klingler Burris Elston.
Happy birthday, Gary
Happy Birthday!!!
Miss his style of finishing a play…
Hard to leave out Moon Mullins !!
Too bad Audrey McMillan got hurt and ended up switching to defense. Would have loved to see how he would have turned out. He was awesome at QB in the 2 games he started against SMU and Arkansas back in '82.
Whenever someone says that a current player should be included on an all-time list, I think recency bias is a problem. Now that Ward’s tenure as QB is securely in the rear view mirror, I can say without hesitation that he is one of UH’s greatest quarterbacks. He had that special attribute that made you feel that we were never out of a game. And he led us to one of our greatest seasons.
*when they let him run
ill die on the ant hill the Ward made Herman… greg was 6-2 after taking over, prior to herman ever taking a foot on campus… and that was with no offseason EVER at qb, half the season exclusively at WR, and 1 week as the total qb prep prior to his 1st game …
its crazy to think that if okorn never gets sick on the UCF practice week, there is a chance we never see ward at qb and dont have one of our schools greatest seasons. it was fate
pesik I 100% agree with you. Greg masked the major deficiencies that judas has a HC. Moreover judas played Greg while Greg was injured. Despite all that Greg delivered and gave his entire soul to his TEAM, TO ALL OF US. I will go one step further writing if Greg had been fully healthy there would have been some consideration from the NFL to have Greg play QB. We will never know how good he could have been but when you see Kyle Murray play QB I can only imagine.
He also ruined Greg’s senior year, and ours, by seriously limiting him to the pocket
When I think of Ward, I think of a winner.
