founders of Houston are the New York-born brothers Augustus Chapman Allen and John Kirby Allen.
I’m guessing Allen Parkway and Kirby Drive are named after them ???
Kirby Drive was named after John Henry Kirby, owner of the Kirby Lumber Company. At one time the lumber company had 300,000 acres and 16000 employees.
