Somebody please make a biopic about John Jenkins starring Walter Goggins.

His 1991 team was one of the bigger flops/disappointments that I can recall.
All that pre-season hype, only to get punked by Miami, and then blown out 51-10 by a 6-6 Illinois team on National TV.
Jenkins was a great OC, but he couldn’t replicate Pardee’s defensive success.
Overall, two losing seasons out of three, and only an 18-15 record.
The anti John Jenkins committee is in full force…and it is always the same posters. Hum i wonder why?

What is about a probation and a reduced roster that you cannot understand?
Pardee’s 1989 team was likewise on probation.
Produced a Heisman winner and a FAR BETTER defense.

Facts:
Did Mr. Pardee have a 10-1 season.
The answer will be no.
Did the same probation start before Mr. Pardee, during Mr. Pardee, after Mr. Pardee’s tenure and during Mr. John Jenkins tenure. Therefore being even more destructive to Coach Jenkins tenure.
The answer will be YES.
Clearly Coach John Jenkins 10-1 record is an amazing coaching job.
I was in school at that time. You clearly were not. Don’t pretend to know history when you do not.
Again some of you clearly hate Coach Jenkins. It baffles me. Coach Jenkins Run and shoot version created history. I will write it for the billionth time. How many National championships could we have won if:
We had not been on probation and could have recruited players for both offense and defense and getting the best DC coaches available? We will never know but at 10-1 only the man upstairs knows.
When I read that the 10-1 season was nothing spectacular it shows that these same posters have no clues about coaching, none.
Some coaches were not happy when he run up the score. These are a bunch of hypocrites. What are they saying to coaches that do the same today?
The way I remember it, we did that because Illinois did it to us the year before. It was a retaliatory running up the score. And it was Donald Douglas, not Klingler.
Pardee’s had one losing season out of three and his team got better every year.
Jenkins had two losing seasons out of three.
AND….
He was basically a “one hit wonder” in 1990; riding Pardee’s coattails.
It is what it is.
10-1 enough said. There is no point trying to put forward clear facts law. Clear facts, and easy for you to understand.
18-15 with two of three losing seasons and bad defenses.
Enough said.
Clear facts, easy to understand.
Pardee was also 3-0 against UT.
Jenkins? Uh, no.
More clear facts.

Jenkins made the Pardee era
Once again I say, although to many it may not matter, Douglas made the call to throw that last second pass as he was trained to do in the RNS after a series of reads on the Illinois defense. Jenkins did not call that play.
But Jenkins should have. He should have instructed him to take a knee.
I used to hang out with Donald and Freddy Gilbert back then. We laughed out a$$e$ off about that play.
Donald called the play and it was 100% because of what happened the year before.
If you don’t want the score run up on you, stop them from doing it. In 1989, SMU did not have to crowd our receivers at the line of scrimmage. The automatic read in the run and shoot when they do this is to throw deep.
Illinois did not have to take the last play off.
If they played to the whistle, the last touchdown would’ve never happened.
If someone wants to run the score up on us, go ahead. I think it is up to our team’s defense to put a stop to it,
John Jenkins (the man got a raw deal) still my 2nd favorite Cougar head coach of all time behind only Yeoman & ahead of Herman & Briles in that order.
Herman wouldn’t make my list if I was listing the all time Cougar head football coaches…but that is just me
No greater time in recent memory than 2015.
If Jenkins was such a great head coach, name me one defensive player he recruited personally. I can’t think of any. JJ’s sole focus was on offense. By the time the 4-7 seasons happened, defensive players knew the R&S would likely mean the defense would be on the field for most of the game. That drove a lot of good high school defensive players elsewhere.
Army did…
