Most people want a safety net. Lose your job, you have unemployment while you look for another. Lose your health care benefits, you can get basic healthcare until you can afford insurance. You turn 66, you get a monthly amount to help you in retirement. Your house floods, the government-backed insurance helps you rebuild. Of course, mostly wealthy or middle class people own homes.
If safety net programs can inject some real security in our lives, thatâs somehow evil? Of course there can be abuses or overreach.
