Hines Graduation

So I was disappointed to learn that the College of Architecture no longer has commencement ceremonies in the Atrium of the architecture building. It’s such a great place to have it and it’s a nice bookend to your studies. I actually started the graduation committee when I was at school. Before that, professors didn’t even wear gowns. We set it up so that the lower classes volunteered for the reception so they got a taste of it. At least you can watch it online now.

Yes, it was a great location/ experience for a graduation.

I believe that atrium has been often regarded as one of the great “spaces” in the city of Houston.

I’ll never forget the time the atrium was packed, to welcome Zaha Hadid, when she was one of the most popular architects in the world.

It was quite a spectacle.
