UH baseball was not supported this year, what is one more year. You let CTW play out while you look for the right fit and keep the big baseball donors happy.
That just tells me they donāt care if softball wins or not.
So you just let the program slip further down the slope ? It hasnāt been supported in yearsā¦Iāve been in funeral parlors that had a better vibe than some of the games Iāve been to in last few years. How could any big donor be happy with direction of the program ? If theyāre a BMD they sure didnāt get successful by accepting this level of performance. Sick of the excuses, Coog Baseball could and should be a Top Tier Programā¦not some damn bottom dweller
So his contract is expired?
If the so called ābig donors ā are still a factor at this point then Nunez is nothing but another Pez.
The program has turned into a jokeā¦ā¦there is not one coach that I talk to that is not dumbfounded at how UH baseball has been allowed to sink to this level.
I could hire my best friend in the world and be the biggest baseball donorā¦ā¦I would have fired him 4 years ago.
Yep. Theyāre working on an extension, but he doesnāt have a deal right now.
There really havenāt been a lot of jobs open up this Summer like there normally is, so I am sure he will sign a new contract.
Heās got irons in the fire but he wants to stay in stateā¦ā¦what Iāve heard.
Places like utsa and other G5s are hard to work at when it comes to negotiations- do I extend him and pay higher than normal money and then he sucks for 4 years cause we were playing a bidding game?
The fb coach has squeezed everything he can out of them to the point where just let him walk if the asks for anything again
I donāt think that is going to happen. I donāt know anything in regards to UTSAās athletic department inner workings. You donāt let your baseball coach, who just won their first regional, move on because they donāt want to pay him what he is worth, though.
Another year of Whitting means another year of nobody caring we have a baseball program.
Nobody from the Houston area wants to play for him.
Noble used to coach 1st or 3rd. The only thing Iāve seen Whitting coaching is the amount of Powerade he drinks every game.
Well, donāt say he doesnāt do anything. He controls the bunt defense. That is a lot for him.
Whether coaching 13-14 year olds ( which I have not done since my son was that age) or coaching the 17-18 year olds, I ALWAYS coached 3bā¦ā¦Iām giving all of the signs to the hitter and the guys on baseā¦ā¦
And on defense Iām calling all of the pitchesā¦ā¦I am trying to make my pitchers shine in front of the college coachesā¦.I debrief with pitchers and catchers in between games and we talk about why we throw this pitch or that pitch during whatever situationā¦ā¦most people donāt realize how much of the game is mental.
I do my best to help them understand the nuances of the gameā¦ā¦do the same thing with the position players regarding their approach at the plate.
As a coach if you are not doing that then you are nothing but a figurehead.
U should apply for UH head coach ![]()
I know youāre jokingā¦.but
There are a couple of guys that Iām close to that I would bring in to work withā¦.awesome guys that would be incredible recruitersā¦ā¦
I would pour my heart and soul into it and 100% guaranteed I would get it turned aroundā¦.
Had I been single years ago after college I could have taken a grad assistant job and worked my way upā¦ā¦also got accepted to several law schoolsā¦.but with a kid on the way I had to support my familyā¦ā¦took a different path.
Itās cool thoughā¦.it allowed me to spend a lot of incredible time with my kids growing up.
Augie Garrido used to give signs to batters from the bench.
And what? Is there a point?
No point. Yāallās convo reminded me of him. it wasnāt common.
Gotcha.
You would be shocked by the number of coaches in D1 baseball who donāt work that way with their pitchers. It is astonishing. One of the schools my son went to didnāt even go over the scouting report.
