Go BLUES!!!

Excellent game on TNT Wednesday night with the Kings beating Vegas in a Shootout 6-5

Stars vs Jets at 7pm Thursday

Wild vs Blues tonight 7:00 PM

Hoping that if Tillman Fertitta
does indeed bring a WNBA team here that it does not affect us getting an NHL franchise.

The bigger issue is the no compete clause on the Toyota Center lease. There was another potential owner mentioned a few months ago but there seems to be the thinking that another arena would have to be built in the suburbs if he owns the team.

I am/was hoping that during the renovations when they put the new ice plant in to make Toyota Center NHL ready, that we would not have that problem.

Playing at Toyota Center means Tillman needs to own the team and although he has talked to the NHL numerous times about a franchise he seems iffy on if he wants to do it at least in the press

I’m not sure about that. There is a lot of industrial land not far from downtown that can be reimagined into an arena and hockey-centric neighborhood, for a price a smart ownership group can afford.
I’d almost prefer it over Fertitta ownership anyway as he may be stretched thin of time to give it the necessary attention to succeed.

The key is the no compete is it within the county or a certain distance from Toyota Center.

Ah-ha. Good point.

Instead of the Aeros shouldn’t the franchise be called the Houston Eaters or the Houston Restaurant Customers. Or maybe the Houston Buffet?

Interesting article on the latest NHL team in Houston. A several takeaways.

  1. Austin is not a serious contender.
  2. The land once used for Astroworld (for you out-of-towners, the land on the other side of the freeway from the Astrodome and Reliant Park) may be a site for a new hockey arena.

PLEASE make this a reality.

This hockey arena design came through my FB feed. Interesting. I don’t know how realistic it is.

That would be totally awesome!!!
PLEASE happen.

Good article in the Comical today about NHL expansion intoTexas.

Looks like the AAC in Dallas:

The upper deck in that arena is so far away that I am pretty sure I saw a welcome to Oklahoma sign on my way up there.
