HOF Ballot (Billy Wagner's Last Ballot Shot)

Will Wagner get in this time?

I hope so; and I hope that he goes in with an Astros ballcap. Definitely deserving in my view. I suppose the Veteran’s Committee is still an option.

Also, Ichiro Suzuki is on the ballot; probably a given.

Ichiro is first ballot for sure…

Wagner should get in as he was at 73.8% last election…

Man I remember when Wagner used to have those really cool intros as a closer back in the 2000s

Edit: never mind, I’m thinking of Brad Lidge my bad

I don’t think there is any way whatsoever that “Will Wagner” gets in.

Sure the kid is off to a good start but he is barely a rookie. He needs about 2,975 more hits to be considered.

Baseball is the Hall of Fame.

The football Hall of Fame is the Hall of pretty good.

Is Billy Wagner one of the elite players of all time? Was he considered the best during his era?

I am going to say no, but I will not be disappointed if he is elected.

The Baby Giraffe

IMO, I think he was one of the best of his era……He made 7 All-Star teams which is not that easy as a reliever.
I think he had over 30 saves a season 9 or 10 times and had one of the best K rates ever.

I really hopes he gets in.

I think Pollard has it right.

I recall Wagner being among the most dominant closers of his era.

Hopefully he gets in this time.

Billy Wagner was dominant and if he had played for the Yanks or Dodgers, he would already be in.

He did love to put ducks on the pond… I remember stressing as a boy…

“One of” not “the”.

The Baseball HOF is the most exclusive club there is. Unlike the the other HOFs you can’t just be really good.

You have to be ine of the beat ever.

Wagner was far more than good. He was elite.

You don’t have to be best of your era to make the hall. Lots of guys wouldn’t have made it if that were the standard.

He was the third best closer of his era. He wasn’t Mariano Rivera or Trevor Hoffman.

If this was the football HOF, yeah he is in.

But the Baseball HOF? I am ok if he gets in but he is hardly a no brainer HOFer.

It is why he is on his last year of eligibility.

He was elite. Look at the stats.

And 3rd best of your era at your position can certainly get you in. There are plenty of examples.

Yeah I guess it could. But it is marginal and it is why he is on his last ballot.

Very good player. On the cusp HOFer.

That isn’t a damning thing to say.

He’s certainly a marginal hall of famer. No one is disputing that.

But to call him pretty good (which is what people reacted to) isn’t right.

Nominating Pollard for the CoogFans HOF based on this alone.

Wagner is a cinch to get in the Hall. Just missed last year and is top vote returnee. His numbers are equal to Trevor Hoffman.
Ichiro is the only guaranteed first-ballot Hall of Famer this go around.
