Just getting it ready fellas……I figure we can put all of the rumors and possible deals here.
Are we talking Stros or are we talking TW?
I am out of the loop
MLB in general, I think
Yes, any and all….Im sure it will mostly be Astros but all is fair game.
Bregman opting out
Look for Detroit to make a big play for him
I’d be surprised if he leaves Boston.
He likes the Monster….In Detroit his numbers go down in that park….of course he’ll be paid by then.
Was reading that Stros are just over the CBT and could be looking to non-tender Sanchez and possibly try and move Walker but they’ll need to eat big chunk of his salary. If it was my $$$ I am going after whatever under-valued arms and a few reaches are out there. Crane isn’t going to pay the big $$ premier arms demand, hard to argue too much against that approach. IMO was a miracle they did as well as did this year. Pollard, what’s down on the farm ? haven’t keep track. As far as TW, we know what we’re going to get…same crap as every year…rinse and repeat
So here is something to ponder….in 2024 the Astros had a $494M revenue….with a $239M payroll….Jim Crane is doing just fine.
Until I saw these numbers released I assumed he was just breaking even or slightly over….but clearly the man can afford some high dollar guys if he thinks they will put the Astros over the hump next year….( including blowing by the luxury tax)
Here is the Dodgers data….$752M revenue and $549M payroll ( not including deferred money).
If Crane wanted to have a 400M payroll + a luxury tax he would still break even…
I’ll touch on some minor league guys later today when I have a bit more time.
Crane promised the city a ballpark village when he bought and tore down the few independent places near the park. He announced a hotel and 70,000 square feet of retail space. Crickets.
Houston doesn’t get the best owners.
This isn’t really germane to the topic or maybe it is in a subterranean way. If I’m wrong let me know.
You recall when they hung the big Keuchel banner off the front of the park back in the day.
Well, when we won the WS the last time I expected to see a huge banner saying World Champions hanging off the side. But I don’t recall anything.
Weird.

Are you currently on meds Funk?
And……
What the hell do the Germans have to do with it?
They bombed Pearl Harbor.
This could be a problem, or not, depending on your chosen profession.
Trade Walker and Diaz. Sign Bregman, move him 2B, and move Parades to 1B. Best OBP infield ever.
Even with a down year , Yainer was a fringe top 10 catcher.
Hopefully new hitting coach can work on his plate discipline….has the talent to be an All-Star.
We need so much pitching to make it back to the WS. I’ve watched all but one game since the division series started. Our “ace” would have been an outlier in this field. The teams I see, for the most part, brought staffs that deal it. The control and velocity have been impressive.
Make some kind of deal to get rid of Walker (he single-handedly drives up our SO rate by four positions) and let Paredes play first. Go get three more solid arms for the pen and maybe a starter. And finally find a CF that can hit for a high average and stick around 6-8 years. Its gonna cost money to be a contender over the next 2-3 years. I expect Altuve to retire in a couple of years.
Denouement: I felt so much better with Click at the helm.
I feel like there were too many injuries this past season. I wonder how Blanco might have progressed, had he not gotten hurt early. Walter was pitching well too. I also liked the pitcher (Ryan Gusto) that Dana traded for Sanchez (I didn’t like the pickup).
Cheapest way to fix pitching is to buy a BP like we had a few years back….when you can shorten the game to 6 innings and then win 95% of those games.
Dont even have to break the bank on SP’s….though Crane can afford to.
