Young looks like a late bloomer. Listed at 6’1" 265 coming out of high school, he’s now listed at 6’2" 295.

Light on his feet for a guy his size. Looks to be a nice find. Especially this late in the game.

I think we are pretty stacked in the DL, but since Jones did not qualify it’s good that we are giving this kid a chance…

Excited about this young man with three years to play. Appears big, fast, and nimble. Any infor on his HS recruiting such as stars, offers, etc?

There’s already a thread made on him. Search his name in the forum.

Yes, but there is nothing about when he was being recruited out of High School, i.e., stars, schools of interest, etc…

Out of high school Blake Young was offered by Cal Poly, Central Michigan, and Idaho; he was recruited, but not offered by Fresno State. He had no stars but had a decent HS senior year with 23 tackles and 2.5 sacks. Decided to go the juco route to improve his chances for a major program which worked out well for him since he will play for UH. Being recruited by Cal Poly tells me his academics are not in question at all.

You can still post this question in that thread instead of starting a new one.

He seems to be an underdog that wants to fight his way to the top. I think that Is what UH is all about. It’s why I’m a bigger fan of UH than UT, even though I have a degree from both. Major has also been an underdog his whole life. Hard work and dedication go a long way.

I wanna see what this kid can accomplish. He represents everything uh stands for. Im betting he makes a major impact before he leavez.

Damn dude… :grimacing:

best thing about the young man is his size, which is excellent…You cant coach that…We can coach weight training and footwork, and we will…Give him a redshirt year to be worked with, and then we could have a real nugget on the D line…

Thought it was pretty cool Blake made a video and also included Dr Khator on a tweet.
