Come on Astros, do your part. The Rangers know who their daddy is!

I know we did when he came off of his injury but dating back to his time with Boston, I always remember him being a tough matchup for us. Especially in the playoffs. I really hope that Scherzer can’t go.
For some reason, if we advance, this matchup scares a bit. We can’t to lose to the Arlington rangers. The stench and noise coming dallas would suck.

From my text message vault…

I’m not worried about Eovaldi….I think they can do enough against him for the win.

And Scherzer is broken….he’s gonna have to pull a Satchel Paige to do anything productive….think about it.
He was not even healthy enough to be on the DS roster….he’s not coming out and throwing 100 top shelf pitches.

As far as today goes, I’m pretty sure that Ryan shuts us down….sure, we’ve score 9 runs in 10 IP off him this year….but he’s due.

And Big Joe Urquidy has 9 shutout innings in a row….I think he gets lit up early and game is over.

We are going to a game 5 book it.

Even if we get past the twins, it’s tough to continually beat the same team in the same season. Especially a motivated in state rival, four more games. I don’t like the path. But hopefully they can get it done.

Game time temperature will be 56 and sunny.

Rangers were the only playoff team we beat in a series at home this year. So I think we match up well against them though admittedly their lineup does look more formidable with Heim and Jung back. Gotta beat the Twins or doesn’t matter one way or another. Go Stros!

I still like the Astros all the way to the WS. I don’t like them against the Braves but I like them a lot against the Phillies or DBacks.

Interesting stat on MLB network.

In postseason history……

Most consecutive starts with 5+ IP & no runs allowed:

Whitey Ford - NYY - 1960-61…….4
Cristian Javier - HOU - 2022-23….3
Christy Mathewson - SF - 1905….3
Kenny Rogers - DET - 2006…….,3

Pretty decent company for Javi. His career playoff era is under 2 after the game last night. Need him to keep that up with Framber being shaky rn.

Every baseball stat has a narrative behind it. Whitey Ford pitched for the greatest dynasty ever. Mathewson pitched in the dead ball era. Javier is pretty impressive.

WPA - Win probability added is a sport statistic which attempts to measure a player’s contribution to a win by figuring the factor by which each specific play made by that player has altered the outcome of a game.

Yes, Whitey Ford pitched for the greatest baseball dynasty ever, but his stellar record as far as scoreless innings is concerned has nothing to do with the run support he may have received. It was about him preventing the opposing team from scoring.

Fortunately, these Astros are veterans and professionals. This game feels like such a trap game for me as a fan because I’m so focused on what the ALCS would be like against the Rangers.
I don’t feel good about the potential matchup. They are super hot right now. The bragging rights for either side would be epic.

Bagwell is popping bottles right now because he thinks Abreu’s signing is now warranted.

None of that matters right now. We still got work to do. Let’s handle our business and we’ll worry about that when we cross that bridge.
