Houston Astros Baseball & MLB Discussions

If this guy is to be believed (and it tracks with Crane’s approach), wouldn’t it make sense for the Astros to tack on that extra year in some fashion to get a deal done? The money out in the market obviously isn’t resoundingly exciting to Bregman, so I get the sense that the Astros aren’t far off the mark.

Yeah, there’s a good chance that AB at age 36/37 has a contract that hurts, but I kind of don’t think it would be that much worse than AB at age 35. I’m actually more worried about the next 3 years than whatever happens after that.

The Astros reportedly don’t want to make Alex Bregman an offer over 6 years.

Which shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. That’s the Jim Crane way. For better or for worse. pic.twitter.com/b7EOHAcDdd

It looks like he hasn’t gotten an offer better than the Astros or he would be off the market.

It could also be Boras pulling his tricks to convince a team someone else is bidding against them to up the offer too.

Yeah, Boras is known to push to try to wring every possible dollar out, and it doesn’t always work well. There’s really no rush as long as the Astros’ offer is just sitting out there.

The more of Brown’s offseason moves I see, the less enthused I am about what he might do with the additional payroll flexibility. But he still has time to turn it around.

If Lil Enos really was going after Arenado then that’s basically what you need to know.

It looks like they are shifting their focus back to the Phillies third baseman. What was your favorite Bregman moment?

I had a lot of favorite Bregman moments. I’d be fine with Bohm. Still has some upside and great team guy. Bohm would hold Arenado down and choke him out. That’s really how these things should be decided anyway.

Bohm would give the kids time to develop

Remember this guy?

I see some serious mechanical changes to his delivery

My favorite Bregman moment was his first at bat back at Yankee Stadium after the sign stealing stuff and 50,000 fans yelled “Alex! Alex! Alex!” Repeatedly. He homered and casually trotted around the bases and shut them up.

Favorite Bregs moment goes back further…

Game 4 2017 Division Series vs. Red Sox at Fenway

Trailing 3-2 in the 8th inning against Chris Sale, who was dealing and trying to keep Boston’s playoff hopes alive.

Bregs homers high above the Green Monster to tie the game that 'Stros eventually win, sending them to the first of the seven consecutive LCS appearances of the current era.

So many other big moments, but this one is somewhat watershed to me. It signaled Bregs’ arrival as a postseason legend and paved the way for what became the sport’s most-recent dynasty.

Adios Bregman

Will leave Jose Altuve as only remaining position player from 2017 WS Team

contract details yet?

Reading possibly 4 years

3 years, $50MM is what I saw.

hmmmm…that should leave money for another upgrade, I would think

Not that crazy of a contract

CBS has 3 years 60 million.

Astros lose 2nd and 5th highest selections in next draft since Walker got a QO from DBacks…but will get back a comp pick after 4th round once Bregs signs elsewhere…

Ugh, I liked the deal until I realized Walker rejected a QO

Well, it is an upgrade at 1B.
