Yeah, we definitely plugged last year’s most pressing need at that spot. Even though some of the guys who played over there weren’t bad defensively, none of them were GOOD.

I would do it…he’s been pretty durable and the production’s been pretty consistent, especially the last four years. Still only 32, so, the commitment isn’t crazy. He strikes out a good bit, but still a legit piece. Put it this way, he severely upgrades the current outfield situation.

I would be good with a one year deal.
No way he accepts a one-year deal. Guys at his age and production clip rarely do, if ever.
Walker vs last year 1st base productivity will be like Walmart vs a Chapter 11 Ben Franklin store.
This move basically offsets the loss of Bregman as Walker is one of the few guys with power that walk a lot and field well. I liked the acquisition idea when it first aired LY.

I really want Peña to get it together with the bat. That would be a huge boost. His defense seemed to slip some last year too.

Astros accumulative 1b stats in 2024 was a 80 wRC+ and -1.9 WAR.
Christian Walker’s 2024 stats was 119 wRC+ and a 3 WAR giving you a net gain of 4.9 WAR at the 1B position.
Alex Bregman in 2024 was 118 wRC+ and a 4.1 WAR
Isaac Parades in 2024 was 117 wRC+ and a 3.7 WAR giving you a net loss of -.4 WAR
So you’re looking at a net gain of 4.5 WAR on the infield.

The Walker acquisition is tight, tight, tight!!
This is exactly what you need to give Dezenzo time to acclimate. He’ll be a great tutor and be productive at the same time.
If they get a decent OF I will be back on the Lil Enos Express.

I saw this quote about Walker at AZ, and it just made me kind of giddy. I could see him giving us Jeff Kent-like production for a year or two, though with a lower BA. That would fit nicely.
In addition, Walker became a leader in the clubhouse with players sitting around his locker postgame discussing the just-finished game, and he set the tone with his hard-nosed style of play.

I like the move….it allows Paredes to stay at 3b and Walker takes over for Singleton.
Walker/Paredas is an improvement over Bregman/Singleton by quite a bit according to WAR.
I could see Walker regressing a bit and Paredas improving some.
Also, I’d like to see Dezenzo as the primary backup for both corners.
If Singleton is released I really hope he can catch on somewhere else….he worked hard to make it back and can possibly improve on last season.
