I haven’t ever heard Snell speak. What’s the deal with him
He’s a moron to the nth degree.
Go find some video watching him talk about COVID….i mean “the Rona”.
Really?
(Edit)
I just went and read one article. Enough said.
Nah.
Gulf of Mexico, where they’d get into a fender bender with Cody Bellinger.
Crane needs to just go ahead and sign Santander. We need to keep this window open while Altuve is still kicking. Apparently, Santander’s defense isn’t great though.
He will hit over 40 bombs….i don’t care if he’s not great on defense……he’s serviceable.
Looks like Blue Jays have offered 4 years 80 million for Santander (he had wanted 5 years, I believe)…Not sure Astros would have touched that, especially since they got Walker for 3 years.
At any rate, Astros may need to just go ahead and try and trade Framber now. They can certainly get a solid bat they could plug into the outfield, and like Tucker, the chances of signing him to an extention after 2025 could get tricky anyway. I hate losing Framber like that, but the free agent outfield market look thin at this point, and no way the Astros can go into the season with the outfield as currently constructed (although I do like the idea of possibly grooming Cam Smith for the outfield eventually…the kid’s gonna have to play somewhere!).
Trade Framber for a package that includes a legit outfield bat and take your chances with Hunter, Blanco, Arrighetti and hope you can catch lightning in a bottle and/or get fortunate with Garcia and the other guys they have on the shelf. I think Lance is probably done, but at that contract, the Astros will exhaust every possible avenue to get him back on the mound. I’m hearing Javier may be out for the full season as well, but he’s still another arm they have on the rotation depth chart with multiple years of team control left.
Anyone heard anything on France?
And yeah, that money CB got makes Framber one decent season away from being very rich somewhere else.
Seen this in a few different spots now….would be an upgrade over one of Jake/Chas.
Sorry——would not allow to link.
Little bit of smoke here……
Hector Gomez has 108K followers, so it’s not just a guy in moms basement.
Santander is so obvious. If that contract is still okay for Breggy to sign and he doesn’t then I have no idea why we wouldn’t give Santander $20m a year.
Sporting News and SI are both running stories predicting that Bregman will ultimately sign with the Astros for $175MM. Seems like a stretch, but his market has stayed pretty soft.
I think Santander is clearly a more likely deal, as he’s the type of guy I can see Crane paying the luxury tax to get, but I’d still be surprised to see it happen.
So the story on Bregman and the 175M is garbage….one guy “predicted “ Bregman would go back to the Astros for that amount.
Nothing has changed….the Astros offered the 156M.
I can’t believe those services ran a story based on one guys prediction….the guy never even said he had heard this or that….just a pure hunch.
The Santander thing has legs because it is actual hot stove chatter picked up by a legit reporter.
A guy that really covers the Latin players.
Agreed on the Bregman story - there’s always a lot of BS out there during this time of year.
I’m not really sold on the Santander thing, either. The Astros were “linked” to him as soon as the offseason started, and it makes more sense now than it did then. There was another “connected” dude a couple of days ago who had it down to the Astros and Mets. Isn’t Gomez one of the guys who predicted Correa would re-sign with the Astros?
This kind of feels like a deal where he’d like to come to the Astros but their offer (if there is one) isn’t where he wants it. That would be an awesome lineup though, so I hope Crane pulls the trigger.
Bc they already gave those $$ to new 1B – Walker. Read from 2 sites that keep up w all the Salary mumbo jumbo that once the Astros go through Arbitration w players that will be eligible, they will be only 3-5 mil under Luxury tax. As known Mr Crane is reluctant to go over the Luxury more times than not. Maybe mid- season trade deadline but situation is not great to just put another 20-25 mil on Payroll .
The $156m deal is still there for Bregman if he wants it. If he doesn’t take it, that dough should go to Santander.
Not so sure that deal is still on the table, but I haven’t heard anything one way or the other. We may be on the way to calling the Astros outfield-- 3 stooges.
I could be wrong but I think Crane has given the go ahead to cross the luxury tax again….
Crane knows baseball, he knows he can’t start the season with Dubon, Jake and Chas as his starting three OF’s every time Yordan sits.
Gotta have one more bat.
I also think if we did sign Santander there becomes a better shot Framber is traded.
It would mean loss of another draft pick and some international money….Framber would be a way of recouping some talent and taking the sting off a bit ( draft capital wise).
Also, we know Framber’s value is at an all time high….at 31, we are not giving him anything like what CB just got.
You have three really good SP with Hunter, Spencer and Ronel….we can afford to rotate rookies through at the 5th spot until you find one that sticks….but you will need SP4.
I have no idea the rehab track of any of these guys that had surgery over the last year.
Would love for Garcia to be that guy.
I think Boras is the “source” for many of the stories concerning teams still in the running for his clients.
The more teams still interested in his clients (whether fictional or not) is better for his clients.
