We are over by 3M….doesn’t look like any takers for Pressly….

ATP, I’d say sign Profar or make a trade that none of see right now……either way, blow by the tax and stay in the thick of it….then next year there is ample money coming off the books plus you should have a couple of spots filled by rookies.

Should easily be able to get back under for one year to reset it and still be competitive.

Sounds like 3/45M gets him done ASAP and maybe less….that sounds like a bargain to keep Chas/Meyers just splitting one position rather than playing two spots full time….thats two auto outs 80% of the time.

Agree, I don’t see how you go into the season with Meyers, Chaz, Dubon splitting time at two OF positions (don’t like them locked in on even one of them! Lol).

You have to do something even if it means taking a flyer.

The issue is Brown waited to the end on the outfielder. Maybe I’m the exception but I can’t stand this idea that you can be a miserable hitter and a good defender and be an asset in the post season. Its why my most hated Astro of all time is Adam Everett.

Put the hitters in the lineup and quit #% around.

Yeah I agree. Praying for Chazzy Fizz to be something is not a strategy.

And heck, Profar put those numbers up in San Diego which is a pitcher’s park.

He may hit 30 HR’s in Houston.

What about, “we expect Myers to become the player he’s gonna be…”

I would rather have Miles Straw back.

I expect Pressly to be the league MVP. Call Lil Enos and tell him to take down the auction.

Speaking of which, I am not a baseball contract guy. I kept hearing Pressly could be given a small portion and released to the four winds.
Do we have to trade him to get out of his contract or can Crane just give him his allowance and put him on the Greyhound to Disneyland?

He’s already lived up to that expectation, imo.

Dana has seen enough to know what Jake is….he is a 4th OF’er / late inning defensive replacement….problem is, so is Chas….bad enough one will start.

Starting to sound like if Pressly will waive his “no trade” he could be closing for the Cubs….

Several sources….too busy to list.

We’ll see.

What do you think that we would get back from the Cubs?

Depends on who else we give up and how much money we pay.

If we were to pay say 4-5M and give them a couple of our 8-15 type prospects we could get a top 5-7 from them potentially.

Remember, this is partly a salary dump….not completely as he would be their closer.

Depends on DB’s GM skills

A six pack a beer and not paying his salary. :joy:

Trading Pressly will certainly free up money to address the OF. Dana needs to add to the pen as well. Only guys I have any confidence in right now are Hader and Abreu.

CF and LFs left. Not much RF.

Bunch have seen 2 many summers.
Not worth veteran minimum $$$.

A’s have to spend or its a MLBPA payroll grievance.
Should be one last run in Sac Town for a few OFs.

It sounds like the Astros are going to give Cam Smith a look at one of the corner OF spots.

Hopefully this is a long-play move and not an indication that they’re done with trades and acquisitions.

Where did you read that? I’m guessing Cam begins his Astros career at Corpus.
