Honestly, why are we even talking about this? It’s not a big deal, even if some people want to make it that.
It’s kind of ridiculous.
Because I’m trying to avoid issues. I’d prefer to not talk about it either and good with stopping it here.

Biggio was terrible in the OF when he got moved out there too so not a good reference.
I am calling BS on Bregman signing here because if he got a better offer than the Astros he would have signed it already. The talk of him getting 200 m or 30m per season is Boras trying to get some team to bite and offer that number to him.
Bregman sitting out the first two months of the season as Boras continues to negotiate with teams will help Bregman’s stats.

Yeah, when you get down to it, our lineup looks better offensively than it was when we won a bunch of games with Tucker out. Defensively, probably not - 1B is much better, but 3B is a clear downgrade. As it stands with the OF, teams are going to run on us at will, except maybe when Yordan is in.
We just have to find a legitimate OF producer or get a lot more out of Pena to really be in the hunt unless we have the best pitching staff in the league. Right now it doesn’t look like an offense that will win in the playoffs.

Yep. I think Grichuk would be a good fit, but we’re fixated on a lefty bat. His contract should come in lower and shorter than Profar’s but in the neighborhood. He doesn’t have Profar’s upside, but he probably has less downside. In any event, it’s not like there are a lot of great choices left.
It seems like the plan is to hope one of the young guys fills the gap.
Gotta keep Bregman in the news, too. The headline is dumb, but there’s a clip in there from DB that makes it pretty clear that the Astros offer kind of is what it is.

The whole righty/lefty thing is baffling to me….i have been in baseball as long as Dana Brown has and his take on this drives me nuts.
Grichuk hits righty’s better than most lefties….but we are gonna sign switch-hitting Polanco? And sure he can play more positions but the large majority would be in the OF.
Get ready to get pissed off when he strikes out constantly….he will help the Astros lead the league in “Lobsters” and that’s about it….Dana’s interest at all in him is crazy….it will make the team worse.

And there is nothing about not signing Bregman that would be embarrassing….thats a strange take from that article.
There is another article out there that says we should trade for Michael King as though it would be easy….yeah, I’d love to have another Hunter Brown next to Hunter Brown….but I’m not giving up Smith, Matthews or Melton to do it.
These “Sports Illustrated “ articles that are written by Joe Schmo are something else….people are reading them and taking them as fact or legitimate.

Freaking stupid it is. Dana can be embarrassed about a few things but I think the handling of Bregman is proving to be solid. If he takes what he has on the table the city will rejoice. If not then it was a fair offer and Dana has a legit 3B
