Bregman to the Redsox. Three-year, $120 million deal

Bregman to the Redsox. Three-year, $120 million deal

Just glad the saga is over. Wish him well when he plays the Yankees.
The Sox are my second favorite team so I’m pumped. Hope Bregman moves to short, to keep Devers at 3rd
I am glad the Astros didn’t cave there is no way Bregman is worth 40m a year.
As I suspected.
So, is he still considered a cheater, Boston fans?
They don’t know Alex plays half a season now. They’ll want to cut him around July.
$40,000,000 per year makes him one of the highest paid in the MLB
I liked Bregs but not at that price
His poor wife is going to find out just how much weight comes with 40mil a year when she’s sitting in Fenway.
She can use $100 bills to dry her tears
Glad it’s finally resolved. When he starts the season slow, RS fans will let him know their displeasure.
Bregman is not playing SS….he doesn’t have the range at this age.
He will play 2b most likely.
So yes, 3 at 40 per year.
Apparently there are opt outs after first and second years.
Also, Sox are paying him 3 years at 30 per for 90M.
The other 30 M is deferred.
I personally don’t get it but whatever……He could have had 160M over 6 to stay here where the wife wanted to stay.
Sure the AAV is not the same but it was security and getting to play with one team your entire career.
He is betting on himself….there is a possibility he does not play great over the three years and does not get another contract worth the remaining 40M.
I thought Bregs was more like Altuve than he was Correa and Springer….I was wrong.
He had no intention of resigning with Astros.
$40 mil per for a sub 800 OPS 2nd baseman is pretty wild.
I guess they are hoping for a big rebound in Boston.
So in the end Boras did exactly what I said he would do. No long-term contract and a quarter of the contract is deferred.
He can tell his buddies at The Havana Club bar that he got maximum per year commitment but he didn’t get the one thing Bregman held out for…a long-term deal.
Can’t wait to see how He is treated when He gets off to his typical slow start.
I’m hoping he starts off hot to get them all excited then craters the second half of the season and ends up hitting .230 or whatever.
I wonder what Altuve thinks about all of this. He was pretty vocal about wanting the Astros to pay up. They made a strong offer, but I guess it was pretty clear that a deal wasn’t going to happen.
Does Altuve just kind of shrug and move on, is he mad at the Astros, or does he look at AB a little differently now?
I wish Alex the best. Like you, I thought he would want to be an Astro for life. Jose Altuve certainly wanted him to stay.
Surprisingly, I don’t have any feelings about his signing with Boston. The long negotiations, and the fact the Astros made him a decent offer, killed the attachment I had to Bregman. I felt worse when we lost Springer and Correa.
I will miss his glove. I will miss 6-8 weeks of offensive production.
I have no idea why there is an opt out. Ain’t nobody paying him more per year than that.
In three years he will be a journeyman.
I just wish we would have moved on earlier and signed a good outfielder instead of him stringing us on. Should have just moved on after signing Christian Walker
