SF pitcher cruising so far
This is going well.
Wow- this offense is…putrid.
The Astros have scored 5 runs so far this year.
Kyle Tucker has 7 RBI for the Cubs, which ties him for the team lead.
So bad.
So you’re saying 1.5 runs a game is bad? Where’s the evidence?
They exploded for 2 runs in the 8th, which helps the average.
Unfortunately, it was tomato can Astros reliever night at the ballpark. All they need is Cy Young outings 2 out of every 3 games and they’ll be in business.
You guys don’t know how pro ball works. The Astros are gonna make trades at the All Star break. Big ____ trades. And they’ll erase that 24 game deficit in the blink of an eye
Hicks was the guy I wanted the Astros to grab a couple years back……he is just hitting his stride…Man, can you imagine Hicks to go with Hunter and Spencer as your 1-2-3!?
Speaking of Devers, I saw a stat that he had struck out 15 times in 19 ABs so far this year.
Tony Gwynn struck out 15 times in 585 ABs in 1995.
I know the Astros offense sucks right now, but it helps to be able laugh at someone.
3-1 loss. Offense no bueno.
Astros hitting still sucks.
Same as last year
Im encouraged by the starting pitching so far. I’m sure the hitting will come around.
Fellas, it’s five games….take a breath….if it’s still this bad 10 games from now we’ll all pile in the bed of a pick and head over to the ball park with pitchforks.
On the positive side, all five starters pitched well enough to win their games.
Trade everyone and rebuild.
ESPN just released its Top 100 for the 2025 season…five Astros make the list.
Yordan checks in No. 7, one spot ahead of No. 8 Juan Soto and proof that Crane should have gone out and spent more money this offseason, being that he is getting great value out of the money he’s NOT having to give to Alvarez for most of his prime years.
Framber comes in at No. 46, Altuve at No. 68, Hader at No. 77 and Hunter Brown at No. 88.
For what it’s worth, Kyle Tucker checks in at No. 19 while Bregman sits at No. 47.
Framber heard you and said NOT TODAY.
I know they started off last season poorly and recovered OK. I’m not sure this year’s team has the offensive upside to dig themselves out of a deep early-season hole.
My observations after Week 1:
Rodgers is kind of meh at 2B
Zach needs to get more action or head back to Sugar Land
Walker strikes out way more than I expected
McMeyers still isn’t a viable CF platoon
Pitching looks good, even the bullpen
Hader makes me nervous
Altuve can still swing it
Overall, I’m not seeing the much talked-about improved hitting approach, but it’s 6 games, so whatever.
Espada:
“We’ve faced some pretty good pitching and know we’ll cut those punchouts out,” Astros manager Joe Espada said. “We’re having some good at-bats. We’re finding ourselves in some good hitters’ counts. We’ve just got to put good swings [on the ball]. We hit some balls hard today, just not much out of that.”
We are using the “anti-torpedo” bats.
