Same here, but it was still an amazing game.
McCullars cannot afford to have another bad outing and remain in the starting rotation.
I’m hoping for the best tonight, but it may be wishful thinking.
Listening to local sports radio this morning, one pundit stated he thought McCullars was probably done in MLB.
He very well could have a solid outing tonight. Pitchers have bad starts. Plus, it was his second start in three years. We’ll see.
Well the Rangers are worse than the Astros with the bats….so if he gets shelled again tonight they have to take him out of the rotation.
He would be best served to be a middle reliever….but I don’t know if his arm can bounce back like a relief pitcher needs to….also can’t afford to have a guy with unlimited opportunities that turn into automatic losses.
And Goose, most of those “pundits” don’t know more than an average fan……and some even less.
Even in his first start, I didn’t think he had great stuff, mainly because the fastball isn’t there. So that’s what I’m looking for, even if he doesn’t have a great outing - show progress.
His command will be the key if he has it he can succeed if not it will be ugly like his last start. We should expect thats how it will be all season. I expect the Astros to have a long leash because they are pretty beat up in the starting rotation right now.
And they are using a 6 man rotation for at least three weeks.
The biggest problem is what you are seeing again tonight….54 pitches after 2 IP so get ready to blow through the pen again.
They can not keep starting him if he can not get past 3-4 IP….
You don’t give your team a chance to win that game and then put pressure on the next couple of starters to go deep in the game….
My guess is he will be placed on the IL soon even if he isn’t hurt….doubtful they send him to minors.
Discovered a hack on the Apple TV broadcast where you can change it to the audio of the Astros radio broadcast.
He doesn’t have a put-away pitch right now, and his location isn’t consistent enough to get guys swinging early in the count. Even so, without Pena’s error, he’s been relatively effective tonight - that cost him at least 10-12 additional pitches.
Astros offense is offensive.
Good jinx. ![]()
Thanks for the heads-up on the Apple broadcast. It’s awesome listening to our radio guys while watching it on TV.
Reverse jinx never fails.
That would be bad news for the rest of the division. If Javier can overcome the odds and find his way back it would be lightning in a bottle.
Some guys just have the muscular structure, sinew, ligaments etc to come back faster and all the way. I’m hoping.
Astros were down all day long and in the 8th Paredes hit a two-out 3 run homer to give the Astros a 4-3 win.
If they can take 2-3 from the Rays in Tampa they may be able to put something together on the next homestand.
You are never stocked with pitching. It’s always a figment of your imagination
Feel so bad for Wesneski. I was really high on him. I really thought he was the second coming of 2017 Charlie Morton.
The “sweeper” is the absolute worst on the elbow ligament….that and a really good fastball with high spin rate.
Need to get some guys throwing the ol’ 12-6 yakker!
It wouldn’t be a normal season if the Astros didn’t lose at least one pitcher to Tommy John surgery.
Just hold serve until Arighetti and Alvarez return.
What’s the deal with Alvarez?
