It would be awesome if Brown just went all in for both Cease and Alcantara.
The Marlins are not likely trading Alcantara now.
Going down to the wire.
Urias is a utility guy that can play all infield positions. another Dubon.
The Tigers picked up Charlie Morton - great move for them.
Chandler Rome is reporting that there are no more deals for the Astros.
No cease, confirmed. Trade deadline done. I’m not sure how I feel about that. They traded Gusto. I don’t like Colton Gordon and Hunter Brown is not as effective.
Arrighetti will be back in the rotation in about a week.
JP France and Cristian Javier are close behind him, and Luis Garcia is right behind them.
Cease would have been a luxury add, imo. The Padres were obviously insisting on guys like Cam Smith or Brice Matthews.
I’m reading that the Twins traded away every impending free agent except Cristian Vasquez. Fire sale.
Yeah, they were probably asking for a boat load. But I just wonder what the Astros are going to get from these pitchers coming back.
If we get two reliable starters and one reliever out of the 4, then we’re in great shape. And there are a couple of other minor league guys who could contribute in the bullpen later in the season.
The Twins are apparently paying $33MM out of Correa’s remaining $103MM. So the Astros will be on the hook for roughly $23MM/year through 2028.
And the Astros sent them Matt Mikulski from Single A? Wut?
It appears that the Twins told Correa that they were going to be moving him out and he told them the Astros were the only place he would approve.
Preach!
I like the Correa trade just because he’ll piss other fan bases off lol
And because we’re paying him about $10MM/yr less than we offered him in free agency.
I had forgotten that Paredes was only here on a 1 year deal and is arbitration-eligible for the next two years. Assuming if he’s ready to go in Spring Training, he’ll have an incentive to move to 2B if the Astros want to go that route, but I could see him getting traded in the offseason.
That helps too lol
Mikulski we barely picked up this year….he was a 2nd round pick of the Giants that hadn’t pitched since 22’.
Guess since they would not pay 1/2 of Correa’s salary that’s all they got……and Correa would only drop no trade for Astros.
And they are selling team so wanted to drop $$$$
Great deal for the Astros.

Padres probably wanted Brice and Melton.
Sometimes the best trade is a no trade.
With 4 pitchers returning soon, the Astros could conceivably go to a 6 man rotation, not to mention the infusion of talent to bolster the middle relief corp.
Overall, it was a good day for the Stros. They strengthen the starting lineup’s offensive weaknesses while not compromising the excellent team defense and I expect Correa to become reacquainted with the Crawford Boxes.
Yeah buddy, the good times are back.
Had Cease had a couple of more controllable years……maybe.
But for a rental!?
Good call Dana.
