Houston Astros Baseball & MLB Discussions

It would be just as bad or worse with Dusty as manager….Abreu would be hitting 5th and he’d stay there until he was hitting.002

He would have already had a meltdown at the reporters….

The only positive would be Dubon playing CF every day.

But had he stayed Maldy( hitting .048)would have been given a one year deal and they would both be in the lineup.

You guys that think the manager can say this or that to get players to stop doing stupid things are off base.
It’s not 1985 anymore where managers chew players out for not running down the line for jogging to first.
Or sitting guys for mental errors.

These guys are coddled to no end……their agent would be on the phone threatening to air dirty laundry and your clubhouse would be a divided cluster.

The Tony Larussa’s are gone.

Just extend him 3 years like Pez.

Nice job JV. That was a lot of pitches in the first inning though.

JV has stones. I wish the rest of the team had similar stones.

Strikes out the side in 2nd.
Need a win today…anything can happen vs bad Rockies in that Mexico City elevation.

JV has the air of a winner. Altuve has it. Yordan I think has it.

Correa, Brantley and Springer had it. They were alpha dogs.

Outside of that….I don’t know.

Bregman….supposed to be a dog…I don’t know.

Singleton I root for, but man… this might be the year the stros trade for or call up a 1st baseman

Has Brantley been approached to be a hitting coach for the team? Seems to me that he was a positive influence on the team as a player and they could use that influence again, particularly with Yordan.

Why TF does Espada have Dubon hitting last behind Chaz, Singleton and, Hell…Bregman?!?!?!?

A .572 OPS should get your a—- relegated to the bottom of the order. Oh but Hell no. He’s about to break out.

Bregman is in the 2-spot to “get him going.”

When I think of the next player to get a big contract, I’m not thinking of a guy who has to hit between Altuve and Alvarez to be successful.

I’m just surprised we scored first. I’m not surprised we only have 1 run and the bullpen can’t make that hold up.

We’ve had 5 base runners through 7 innings. Pathetic.

Guys, guys…we have pros on this team. Everyone goes through slumps. You’re not very good at your jobs either. These guys bleed orange. Bregman is gonna re-focus like a laser after the ASB.

The Astros are playing like they don’t like Joe Espada. That guy has no fire in the belly. He gets ejected and just casually walks back to the dugout. He can’t even make that look good.

Joltin Joe gets kicked out to duck cameras in another sad loss.

Bullpen just bad enough again…Singleton can’t get it out of infield & game on the line = sums up this season.

Breg got a few chippies in Chicago. Would be under .200.

JV was more concerned about $ than being on a team that won the WS, and so the Astros had to mortgage part of their future to get him back. Spare me the free market bs as if taking the Astros offer would have left him destitute with only 100 million whatever. Stones is being loyal to your team and to your cause especially when it requires sacrifice. If I was on the team, hey man enjoy NY.

Only 2 guys consistently doing anything w their AB’s – Altuve & Tucker.
Diaz, now that he’s catching everyday is not coming through w RISP. He’s like 6/29 in that situation. .200 avg in those crucial spots ain’t going to cut it. I could go through all the rest , but won’t bore y’all. I just follow on my laptop… no video or audio as I haven’t been watching religiously like i always have forever. Not worth it atm.

After the loss I looked at the back of everyone’s cards, I feel better now.

He is gonna mess around and get fired yesterday if they don’t start winning.

BS.

Nobody had a gun to anyone’s head……we didn’t have to trade for him a second time.

That is a horrible take.

Look at Altuve’s numbers with RISP. :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

In fact, Alvarez is even worse than Diaz, too. The team is hitting .253 with RISP. If you take Dubon’s .615 out of the mix, it’s pretty grim. Of course, taking Abreu’s perfect .000 out would be helpful.

I looked at Bagwell’s card.
2005 was like last season for J Abreau.
Bagwell retired before he got embarrassed like Abreau now.
What does he not understand about it ?

Start raising the floor of this team.
Abreau is a sunken cost. Be a professional & move on.
