Houston Astros Baseball & MLB Discussions

Yep the same. At least Altuve is getting on base first 25 gms. That 3-6 in Batting order is crucial if they’re going to have any success w scoring 4-7 runs/gm. Just too many glaring holes in first 4 weeks, All Astros fans are frustrated. In this Espada having his Relievers doing the up/down is not common for them n he does it consistently. Good lord… Rookie Mgr. Thgs u take for granted, he’s still learning as Losses mount.

I mean their off tomorrow, off Monday, why did he mske Monterro go bk out after he saved JV last inn. Did same to Abreu. No need w off days, plenty arms available .

Ok I’m done, bbq outside. :yum:

I think Bagwell is a perfect example of the Peter Principle. The list of great baseball players who are GM material is pretty short. He’s not on it.

That’s right. Didn’t have to trade for him.

Nobody put a gun to his head to make him leave.

Mirror. Your BS Mr. have to say something to everyone all the time complete with threats and hostility. He was on a WS champion team. Really important, right? The ultimate goal. Well apparently not. Team tells me as current player we’re trading to get him back. No thnx.

Someone needs to be fired. It might not be fair but you can’t have the 3rd highest payroll and have the worst team. Someone needs to be fired.

Maybe that will wake them up.

Dude full of crap….go find all these posts with threats….freaking liar.

Your takes are almost always great big nothing burgers….just you griping about stuff….no content whatsoever.

What was your last contribution? The picture of the strip club? Followed by a post where you complained it was taken down and then called the entire board snowfla—kes.
Yeah, you’re an outstanding poster and even better Coog fan….:joy:

And by your rationale JV should have immediately resigned with the Tigers instead of re-upping with the Astros.
In fact, there should be no free agency, have to stay with who drafted you your entire career.

I could see Crane looking at his front-office guys (other than the GM) and telling them to find something else to do.

This won’t happen, but I wish Crane would kiss and makeup with Hinch and Luhnow.

Murphy’s Law

Texans bad - Astros good
Texans good - Astros bad

That won’t happen.. Besides Hinch is in year 3, building a decent team in Detroit.

Wasting your time talking to that one Pollard. Its ramblings are always bitter and incoherent. Lol

:thinking::mask:.

SI wants him gone!

One glaring issue can be solved pretty quickly, however, and that’s the underwhelming managing of Joe Espada.

He is less than a month into his MLB career as a manager, but it’s already obvious that he’s the wrong man for the job. Replacing Dusty Baker was never going to be easy, but Espada seems overwhelmed by the role and has been flat-out incompetent (case in point: the Jose Abreu situation).

To make matters worse, he already appears to have lost the clubhouse based on this devastating anecdote from beat writer Brian McTaggart before Tuesday’s game.

Asked why he chose that moment, Espada said “I just got tired of watching.”

I think there is a reason he had managerial interviews during multiple off seasons and didn’t land a job.

Is that SI’s AI authors or a real person?

When you are a bench coach you tend to be closer to the players.

It’s almost as if now as the manager he is afraid to make tough decisions and show some fire.

In Joe’s defense this is a veteran team that should be able to motivate themselves.

The pitching injuries suck and have been a huge part of this cluster but way too many guys are not hitting the ball w/RISP.

That is not Joe’s fault.

Or as the illustrious CDH said, paraphrasing, “I can’t manage this shiite”
Lots of similarities of incompetence.

My concern with him from the beginning was with this relationship with the players. He may think that being the same guy who got the job is the way to success, but he has to change. The problem is that even if HE changes, the players will still see him as the same guy.

An internal promotion can work if the new guy was already seen as the dude who had the REAL answers and the existing manager was just kind of a figurehead (or even an obstacle). What we’re seeing is that this wasn’t the case for Joe.

It sucks for him, but this probably wasn’t the right team at the right time for him, because he’s not a new voice and because he doesn’t have time to learn on the job. I don’t think the losses are “his fault,” but he may still need to hit the portal. If the guys really love him, then maybe firing him will make them mad enough to play hard.
