I was definitely referring to the Astros.
Arrighetti looks good after 5 innings.
Let me know if you ever have a feeling about the next Mega Millions drawing.
With no one in the OF being able to hit the ball , I’ll say Pedro has been crushing the ball for SL on his rehab assignment.
The Astros need Meyers back in the lineup.
Bring him up and send Melton back down to see if he can figure some things out. He’s been pretty non-competitive since he came back.
As for Meyers, I’d like to have him back, but I’m not counting on him coming back at the same level as when he got hurt.
I’m anxious to see if Yordan is really ready to bring it.
Right now, Melton is neither a major league hitter nor outfielder. He needs to go down, and we need Meyers back. - However, the question then is, does this year’s pre-injury Meyers return, or does the previous years’ version of Meyers, who struck out far too much, return?
Other than Peña, I haven’t been impressed with Astros coming back from injury and performing well.
Hopefully Meyers and Alvarez will be the exceptions.
I have a fair amount of confidence in Alvarez, assuming he’s really healthy - he’s always hit since he came up, and he’s one of those dudes that is just a natural hitter.
With Meyers, the big picture isn’t great, and it’s easier to see him regressing to the past two seasons than maintaining his first half level of play. I kind of think he’ll need more time in the minors to get back to MLB readiness, but we’ll see.
Myers/Alvarez

It’s weird - seems like Jake has been out forever, but it has just been a little over a month. I guess that’s because our OF has been absolutely brutal over that period, and the first place lead has evaporated. And all we know is that he’s “hitting, fielding and sprinting,” which is better than resting and recovering, but still.
Hasn’t it been longer?

July 10th - barely 6 weeks ago.

Never hear much on how Dezenzo is progressing.
The last thing I heard was that Espada said he’s “getting close” to starting a rehab assignment. Until he gets to that point, whatever work he’s doing is pretty much out of sight unless there’s a setback. I kind of expect him to start that rehab assignment within the next week or so.
In other news Dubin was claimed off waivers by Baltimore.
Yordan better be in the lineup today, regardless of how he feels.
EDIT: HE’S BACK!
Looking at our pitching rotation, can someone explain why Espada doesn’t adjust the order so that Framber, Alexander and Brown alternate with the other guys who burn the bullpen? Spread those guys out a little bit and give the bullpen a chance.
Having Arrighetti, Javier and McCullers going back-to-back-to-back is kind of dumb.
Tonight’s lineup:
- Jeremy Peña (R) SS
- Carlos Correa (R) 3B
- Jose Altuve (R) DH
- Yordan Alvarez (L) LF
- Christian Walker (R) 1B
- Jesús Sánchez (L) RF
- Victor Caratini (S) C
- Mauricio Dubón (R) 2B
- Jacob Melton (L) CF
Man, I’d really gotten used to having Rooney available out of the pen. ![]()
Hopefully, they’re going to drop Blubaugh into one of those three starting spots that aren’t getting it done.
| 08/26/25 | Houston Astros activated LF Yordan Alvarez from the 60-day injured list. |
|---|---|
| 08/26/25 | Houston Astros placed LHP John Rooney on the 15-day injured list retroactive to August 25, 2025. Left elbow inflammation. |
| 08/26/25 | Houston Astros optioned SS Brice Matthews to Sugar Land Space Cowboys. |
| 08/26/25 | Houston Astros recalled RHP AJ Blubaugh from Sugar Land Space Cowboys. |
Would you just stop with the common sense!
It’s obviously better to burn the pen in back to back to back games.
