Houston Astros Baseball & MLB Discussions

He’s still one of those guys you have to watch after a couple of times through the line-up, but he’s giving the Astros consistent starts and innings, for sure.

Watching Walker hit in the last couple of games makes me think that having Yordan back in the lineup is going to let him relax and just hit instead of trying to carry the team and justify his contract. One can hope, anyway. :slightly_smiling_face:

5-5 in last 10.

Ort was huge T7.

Sure would have been nice if there were runners on base for Walker’s two solo HRs.

Is it my imagination or do we hit too many solo shots?

I don’t know, but I’m not going to complain about homers.

When many were complaining about Walker being another Abreu I knew it was a bad take….Walker had a timing issue and was guessing more than he should have to early on.

I figured by season’s end he would be around .250 with 25-30 HR’s….not tremendous but not bad either.

I think next year after being settled in you will see him take more walks and finish with atleast 5-7 more HR’s and more RBI’s than he ends up with this year….thats assuming he does not get traded.

I think either him or Paredes will be traded this winter.

It has to be Paredes unless he can play 2B, imo. And I hate that.

Paredes is very capable of 1b….but Paredes brings you some decent prospects back….just depends on how Dana looks at it….tough call.

I’m interested to see if McCullars adjusts well to BP action. If he can throw strikes, he’ll prosper. If he walks batters, he won’t.

SP is more tolerant of mistakes so McC will have to be highly focused on his pitching mechanics coming out of the pen.

After listening to Bagwell in the booth for the last couple of games, I agree with this message - he’s not very good on the mic, and he’s not getting better.

I think Parades balks at moving to 1B simply because his value goes down when he hits the market.

Agree, I love Bags but he’s not good in the booth.

Remember we are talking about a team that lost all 3 games at home to Oakland. But I hope you are right

Javier = lynchpin

Javier’s six innings, no hit performance is exactly what the team needed at this stage of the season. The Angels aren’t on the same talent level as the Brewers, or the Tigers, but for a player coming off surgery, Astros fans have to be encouraged that Javier may represent an effective #4 starter.

Valdez, Brown, Alexander, Javier and Arrighetti may represent the five starters with Garcia, Blubaugh and France waiting in the wings for possible starting or relief assignments.

Astros pitching is looking good for the stretch run and postseason.

Saw the Red Sox released Walker Buehler yesterday. The numbers are terrible, but he could be had cheap and should be motivated. Could probably give you some innings if one of the other high risk guys goes down.

Javier will be the 3.

Way more talented than Alexander……when teams get a 3rd look through the lineup he gets roughed up….

He is what he is….hopefully you can get a few more good starts from him but he is not going to be a big contributor in the playoffs.

If you lined up your starters today it’s Hunter, Framber and Christian.

When Cristian is healthy (and there is some contention that he hurt way before he went down) he can be ghastly as a starter. I’d love to see Alexander in there, too. But Christian is rugged. An October necessity.

The Javier-Abreu-Presley triumvirate is one of my favorite memories. They were just nasty.
