Houston Astros Baseball & MLB Discussions

I felt bad yelling about Presly. I rooted for him but got disgusted at the end. A nice lesson about respecting people that don’t want to leave your team.

And that guy showed up at some UH games, too.

I wasn’t excited to see him on the mound at the end of his run, but at least you knew that dude was always giving what he had, unlike that punkass in RF.

The Astros trade process is like being told you’re going to the Bahamas for vacation. Then you’re dad says seaworld. Then deerbrook mall. Then he says nowhere. And you end up screaming, “just let us go to deerbrook mall!!!”

Is a trip to the Humble Pancho’s included in the Deerbrook deal?

I’m seeing stories that both Paredes and Brice Matthews will get work at 2B.

Does this mean we’re in for another year of Altuve in LF? :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

This wouldn’t surprise me with Dana and Espada. When we don’t make the playoffs for the second straight year they will both be fired.
I got no issue with either guy at second. Although I favor Matthews who might become an all-star one day playing there.
Examples: Biggio and Kent

But what is the theory behind keeping Myers because of defense and then depleting the defense with Altuve? Not to mention screwing up Altuve’s hitting. True justice would be forcing Bagwell out of retirement to play left.
Theory: Altuve’s movement and throwing have diminished so let’s move him to Left.

Funk’s hot take: The situation with Yordan being too physically soft to play in the field at 28 years of age is a bigger impediment to the team’s success than Altuve’s age. Trade him and his 70 games a season straight up for a hot young hitter and a couple of good young pitchers and lets start over. Prferrably to the Rangers where we only have to pitch to him 5-6 games.

I’ll hang up and listen.

And here’s a tidbit….I guarantee Altuve at 2b is better than Paredes there….Paredes is a corner guy, period….his range is horrible.

Exactly. If you’re trying to find a non-3B infield spot for Paredes, it’s right next door to 2B.

Well, if we miss the playoffs again I think the Dana and Joe show get canceled.

Astros fans are incredibly lenient and well-behaved. Probably one of the five most civilized fan bases in the League. But miss the playoffs two years in a row and this group is going to rebel like a bunch of crusaders.

I see both sides….hes not a spring chicken and saving his legs as much as possible makes sense….avoiding a potential injury makes sense.

But, playing for your country is a big deal( and likely his last opportunity) and honestly he’ll see better pitching in the WBC.

I have a hunch that he probably didn’t want to play (because of injury/fatigue concerns), but that he didn’t want to turn them down, especially given that the bench coach is the VZ manager. So the Astros gave him the “gotta do what Bossman tells me” excuse.

And now Correa is sitting out the WBC because he doesn’t have insurance?

Hmmm…

Good on him. It’s wrecked more than one Astros season, imo.

I’m surprised this has gone on this long. When this first started I thought it would be bad for the MLB

It may just be that other orgs have more robust S&C programs for the guys when they get back. The Astros’ is/was clearly busted.
