He has been limited to flat-ground throwing earlier in camp and is unlikely to be ready for Opening Day, making his status for the start of the season uncertain.

Key Details on Hader’s Status:
Injury: Left-biceps inflammation.
Progress: He has been playing catch on flat ground and is now moving to a mound.
Outlook: While he is throwing, he is “a few weeks behind” schedule and unlikely to be ready by Opening Day.
Replacement:Bryan Abreu is expected to fill the closer role
I could hear Nolan Ryan grunt when he pitched from the outfield seats during those matinee games, and I watched Bill Doran steal home from out there, too. I don’t remember what parking cost, but it was probably like 5 or 10 bucks.
Sitting out there was way better than in any of the upper decks where you had to look through the smoke ring to see the field.
I think it was more fun because we didn’t have the internet around to ruin everything.
My first truck is a 1974 GMC I bought in 1978 (still have it). One year they had a promo that GMC trucks parked for free.
I had to have the windshield replaced a couple of years ago and found this:
I would usually buy an upper-level ticket, go down to the field level and stand behind home plate to listen to Ryan pitch. One game I was standing next to a guy who said I looked like Jim Palmer. I didn’t think I did, but he was the spitting image of Gaylord Perry.
I think that’s nearly a mathematical certainty. Roy Jones Jr once said, “getting hurt is a circumstance…getting hurt a lot is a habit”
He said when he hurt something that was the last time that part of his body would ever be hurt again. I know it’s a different sport. But he was saying people take on injuries like they’re part of their personalities.
He had a pretty severe strain in his bicep that took longer and they are being very cautious. He should be ready to go soon. Just have to hope he doesn’t have a setback.
I’ve torn a bicep. Its excruciating. Never had a “strain.”
I don’t even know the clinical definition of s strain. I do think with the millions in equipment and staff and facilities you can probably get these guys going faster.
Now, if the union negotiated that they can use their own doctors then there’s your issue. If I were managing my own recovery I could literally milk it six years…you know, to not harm my career.
